This should keep you up tonight...
Many, many years ago (1984!) I went on a school trip to France. I was one of those weird kids who never tired of seeing the castles and cathedrals. (Okay, the Folies Bergere was cool, too.)
I took picture after picture, roll after roll. Unfortunately, a pickpocket got a bunch of them from me in Paris. Then I almost broke my new camera - my parents would have killed me - when I dropped it waiting for the subway.
One of the castles we visited had a tour guide who took us into the dungeon, which still had a chain on the floor. Naturally I was intrigued when he told of the ghost who was still spotted regularly there.
After I got home & picked up my developed pictures, there was a really eerie one that freaked all of us out -- this bald white head, with really large dark eyes, and the apparition seemed to be flying towards the camera, taking up almost the whole pic, shrouded in darkness. Two semicircles were at the top of the pic - you couldn't tell what they were, because they were right at the edge of the pic, which was dark.
For days we passed around this pic, freaking everybody out with the story of the castle ghost, and everybody wanted a copy of the pic.
Then another friend took a look at it and announced that it looked like a nose, and I realized that it was from when I jerked my head back in reaction to dropping the camera near the subway, and the flash had gone off accidentally. The two big dark eyes are my nostrils.
Not a case for the ouija board after all.

- Jake
