Just got back today from Wilkes Barre, PA and I just had one of the best nights of my life! Rod truly is the best/singer performer of our time. I am going to see him in May at Mohegan Sun and possibly in Kansas City and Des Moines. Anyway...
This was my second show on the Rockin' In The Round Tour and I was in the third row! In front of the catwalk(Rod's stage is in the round; it's one main round stage with two circle catwalks with pits for people on each side. Event Staff let the first two rows go up to the catwalk when Rod walked them. Setlist description: Rodfather/Can Can Intro(Rod created this awesome movie trailer with the voice that you hear on every movie trailer and this was followed by the Rod Stewart Tonight Can Can and the plaid Scottish curtain covering the main stage went up going right into... 1. Tonight I'm Yours-Rod came running out of the highest point of the stage(which is the Celtic football club logo) with a lame(type of sparkly jacket ) jacket and some kind of cool black scarf with I think skulls on it...towards the end of the song...it lead into a bongo solo with Rod just waving his hands singing...Tonight You're Mine, Tonight You're mine...and went straight into...2. You Wear It Well-Probably my favorite Rod song next to Some Guys Have All The Luck(I was so upset he dropped it) Rod kept his mic stand in the center on a tilt and ran in a circle and sang this doing his traditionally throwing the mic stand up in the air. He thanked us for coming and said this was an all rock show...no ballads(meaning Songbook) 3. Lost In You-AWESOME! He really changes his setlists throwing in a rarely played song like this. They did a cool banjo breakdown during it and Rod was doing a stepdance 4. Reason To Believe-Classic Rod song...crowd finally starts singing and let me just add his violinist/fiidler/and mandolinist(if that's a word) J'anna Jacoby is incredible...amazing...and pretty hot too(so is his saxophonist...but that's another story 5. Infatuation- I ran to the catwalk rod came right by me looking at me singing "It gets so hard in the middle of the week, maybe this womans just all I need," and I had my hand out, the longest arm there and he seemed to just be shaing womens' hands. 6. (I Know) I'm Losing You-Temptaions song that Rod really rocked up and had an amazing 5 minute battle between his drummer and percussionist...which sounded familiar Rod came out and finished it up strong.7. Father & Son-First song off Still The Same(new album). Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Rod really put a lot of passion into this showing pictures of him and his new born son Alastair. It was cute Rod was playing soccer with him. 8. I Don't Wanna Talk About It-Another song you never get to hear...well at least in the U.S. 9. This Old Heart Of Mine-My favorite, most memorable song of the night. I was back at the stage and Rod was working the runway saw me singing the words stopped in front me and yes...he finally grabbed my hand...YES!!! I was going crazy and his Rodettes(background singers(SMOKIN) winked at me and one grabbed my hand, pointed at me and pointed back to her. YOWSA! 10. Having A Party-My Rodette came back and grabbed my hand again and saw me tring to take a picture and spun around to me but the pic was ****...I'll post it anyway. Rod really rocked this song up. So fun to sing along to. The Rodettes did an awesome soulful rendition of Piece Of My Heart for Rod's break...It was worth the wait...these girls can sing! 11. Hot Legs-Also another memorable song. Rod was on. He even hit the notes on, "I Love you HonEY!" Another Rodette posed for a pic. 12. Cut Across Shorty- Very obscure to the crowd as was the next...but I was rockin', so was Rod. 13. Dirty Old Town- A real treat! The first song that Rod recorded and he played guitar on this one. He told us there would be a 15 minute intermission...go buy a program, have a drink He also gave us a view under the stage on the screens. There were fat men walking around in tighty whities Curtain goes up 14. The First Cut Is The Deepest- First STRONG crowd sing along. Rod was wearing like a marching band coat with a white shirt and blue jeans. 15. Tonight's The Night-Another sing along with Rod running along the catwalks to get us to sing. 16. You're In My Heart- Rod was into this one changing "You're the best team I've ever seen," to a screaming,"You're the best FOOTBALL team I've ever seen!" 17. Fooled Around And Fell In Love-Awesome! Gave me chills. He was wearing a plaid vest. 18. Have You Ever Seen The Rain- The screens had Rod in the rain. Crowd was singing loud on this one. 19. Forever Young- Of course everybody was up for this one. I was singing to J'Anna and she was smiling motioning her mouth like,"YEAH!" 20. It's A Heartache Rod said that he's been 30 years to sing this one because of the voice similarities. Everybody was up. Rod was gettin' into it. 21. Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?- Probably the most fun and best song of the night. Rod was prancing around, shaking his ass, his arms, and put on a boa(I got a clear shot of that). 22. Young Turks- Real rocker...but Rod kinda favored the other side of the stage for this one. Crowd was singing loud though... 23. Rhythym Of My Heart-Rod sat he stairs on the other side of the stage with the Rodettes for the whole song...I had to watch the screen or just stair at the back of his head...He laid back with the girls on the stage finishing,"SAILING" Curtain went down leaving a red flashing neon ROD STEWART on the screens and of course he was back in his red jacket for... 24. MAGGIE MAY!!!- Crowd started singing accapella for Wake up Maggie I think I've got something to say to you, It's late September and I really should be back at school...and Rod picked up. During the full Mandolin part Rod bowed down and J'Anna walked up on the high stage looking down at Rod and finshed the song with "Maggie I wished I'd never seen your face, got to get back home, Maggie...one of these days," and the curtain when down...Mr. Stewart has left the building. Pics coming... |
