Last night after kickball (yes I joined a kickball team - www.kickball.com) we were talking about drinking on a school night and how it is harder to recover now that we are older. My roommate and I had just met this guy who was talking to us about it and we were saying we were going to take it easy since it was Wed and we were older. He then asked how old we were. He thought I was lying when I said I was 35 and asked me repeatedly about it with a look of complete shock.
This is very flattering yet also makes 35 seem ancient. So I'm wondering, since I was at a bar and I don't take anyone seriously at a bar, should I just start lying about my age so I can avoid feeling like a frigging leper? The kid turned out to be 27. He's a very old 27 though since I thought he was at least 30. I probably won't bother lying but the idea seems appealing because I'd love to avoid that discomfort. It's just a little white lie, 27... 35, same thing right? ![]()
