HBO Wants More 'Curb' Service
Network, David make deal for sixth season
August 9 2006

LOS ANGELES -- The last episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm's" fifth season was called "The End," but it turns out it wasn't really The End.

HBO and "Curb" creator Larry David have struck a deal to produce a sixth season of the comedy series, which will likely hit the air sometime next year. Like all five previous seasons, the sixth year will consist of 10 episodes, the showbiz trade papers report.

There had been speculation that the fifth season would be the last for "Curb." "Larry was very unsure after the last season," HBO chief Chris Albrecht told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour last month. "He felt like the last season could have been the final season."

After David took a break following the end of the season -- in which Larry discovered that he might have been adopted -- Albrecht said the "Seinfeld" co-creator felt inclined to do another year.

"He said, 'I want to sit around and see if there's something that comes up that are stories that I want to tell,' and I've known Larry for 33 years," Albrecht said. "So I know you don't push him. And we waited, and he came to us and said, 'You know, I got something and I'll let you know.'"

That something apparently turned into a definite thing, and so the new season is scheduled to begin filming in the next couple of months. Cheryl Hines and Jeff Garlin are expected back as Larry's wife and manager.

"Curb Your Enthusiasm" is up for five Emmys later this month, including outstanding comedy series, outstanding lead actor for David and outstanding supporting actress for Hines.

YES! I LOVE 'CURB'!
