Exclamation Ricky Skaggs bus hit and killed someone after Bonnaroo last night!

My friend who works in the country music biz told me about this first thing this morning, since he knew I was watching Stevie perform there last night on the internet broadcast. It is very sad, since Ricky Skaggs just began hitting the road again after a horrible family tragedy a few years back. The few times I've met him (most recently backstage at the Grand Ole Opry) he was so sweet, and I know this accident will break his heart.

Ricky Skaggs' Tour Bus Kills Man in Tenn.

MANCHESTER, Tenn. - A tour bus carrying bluegrass artist Ricky Skaggs from a performance at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival struck and killed a man Friday night, authorities said.

The bus was traveling south on Interstate 24 about a mile from the exit for the festival when the man stepped onto the highway, said Melissa McDonald, spokeswoman for the Tennessee Department of Safety.

His identity was not released, pending notification of his family.

McDonald said it was unknown if the man had been attending the four-day festival, but his identification showed he was not from Tennessee. It appeared the man jumped over a fence to reach the highway, she said.

The accident is still under investigation. There was no indication of alcohol use by either the bus driver or the victim, McDonald said.

Calls to Skaggs' representatives late Friday were not immediately returned.

The Bonnaroo festival is in its fifth year, attracting about 80,000 music fans and artists each year to 700 acres of farmland in central Tennessee about 60 miles southeast of Nashville.
