This song rocks! It's not in my top 10, but I really like it - high energy, powerful vocal, one of the only "rock" songs on this album. I can even forgive Rupert's annoying synthesizer keyboards. I chuckled when I read the credits - Tambourine: Stevie Nicks.
This song strikes me as desperate & passionate, but still hopeful ("well I can make it!") What's it about? I haven't a clue. It's so easy to say that a song must be about Lindsey, or about drugs, or whatever, so I won't do that. For some reason, I'm thinking Mick's in here somewhere, but I have nothing to back that up at all. Just a feeling. The lyrics aren't all that great, now that I'm reading through them, just the same three verses (someone will be here shortly, I'm sure, and say that 'verses' isn't the right term, but you know what I mean) repeated a couple times each. But for some reason it works. The best part is the timing of the different vocals at the end & they way they all mesh together. What's that called? You know, like when you start "row row row your boat..." and the next person comes in & starts their own "row row row..." right when you start "gently down the stream?" That's what I mean. It's really cool on this song, IMO. "I thought we already I thought we already..." Favorite line: "High in my life, obsessive was my love" She sounds sexy as hell during that line, the first time esp. Least fave line "Have fun tell the world." Huh? OK. I adore the ending, when the drum beat gets really strong & fast for "well I can do it, well I can make it!" Damn near impossible not to belt that out along with the song. ![]() |
