I've always wanted to go to Australia... missed an opportunity to go with a school group a few years ago because I didn't have the money. Since then I have never really had an excuse to just pick up and go, either with friends or by myself. It's hard to just randomly plan that kind of thing, especially with other people. But if you do it in the context of some kind of event it gives you something to work around, y'know? Seeing Stevie perform in Australia would be the pretext, but it would be secondary to the actual trip if that makes sense. At least for me.
I think that's the big reason why so many people came from all over for the Dreams "tour." The shows were an excuse to go but in the end Vegas is such a tourist attraction and there's so much to do there that many people make regular trips there or would have liked to go at some point anyway, regardless of whether she was playing.
Oh, and I would only go if the orchestra is really going to be involved or if these shows are somehow different. Otherwise, even though the concert wouldn't be my main focus, I would just save my money and keep the trip on my "list of things to do someday that may or may not ever actually happen" for some other possible occasion when I could spend more time there.

Exactly! Couldn't have said it better myself. Australia, as well as many other cities and/or countries, has long been on my list of places to visit before I die. Like Rizzo said, "I wanna get my kicks while I'm still young enough to get 'em!"
