Is it being remixed as well?
Mastering is only the final polishing of the overall frequencies of the mix so it is suitable for reproduction/listening. So in effect, remastering is just taking the original mix and having a new (or maybe even the same) mastering engineer retweak the frequencies. I hope that they don't, but it's possible they'll make it LOUDER by squashing the frequencies with compression and limiting, which is why all current alternative/rock albums sound like ****! I love Straight Back. I discovered it on my Mirage tape while flipping around between Gypsy and Hold Me. ![]() So, I only like 3 songs on that album... lol. I was going to do a cover of it for the Gold Dust Project, but I never got around to it. One interesting thing about the CD version we have now is that John's bass is mostly on the left speaker! Then it kinda spreads out funny.
