West Coast Ledgies Unite!!!

[David]

To me, a convention would be a lot more interesting than a "get-together," which might be nothing more than spending the evening in a bar trying to talk to fellow ledgies over the thumping noise of a dance club -- I have no interest in that, so if that's what's it's shaping up to be, I will bow out & wish everyone a good time. I think an event like this should use the early Mac fan conventions in '90 & '92 as blueprints. The '92 event, for example, was held over a three-day weekend & had the following schedule:

Friday

6:30 p.m. - Pick up registration packets & registration for art/photo contest
7 p.m. - Welcome
7:15 p.m. - Ice breaker, hors d'oeuvres, door prizes & cash bar
8:45 p.m. - Speaker David Williams
10:15 p.m. - Jolande Groenenboem (from Holland) performs "Stand Back" & "Rhiannon" (accompaniment by Sija Kieboom on "Stand Back")
10:30 p.m. - Barbara McLuin leads an FM singalong
Midnight - End of program

Saturday

8:30 to 11 a.m. - Dealer setup time
11 a.m. to noon - Last chance to register for art/photo contest
11 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Traders market, Fleetwood Mac exhibit, art/photo contest, video & audio presentations, card signing, trivia questions, door prizes
3 to 4 p.m. - Auction for the City of Hope
4 to 6:30 p.m. - Open time
6:30 p.m. - Opening words & contest results
6:45 p.m. - sit-down dinner served, cash bar, door prizes
8:15 p.m. - Speaker Frank Harding, Fleetwood Mac historian & personal friend of band members
11 p.m. - Stevie Nicks showcase
11:30 p.m. - Barbara McLuin pays tribute to Stevie Nicks (songs include "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You" & "Beauty & the Beast")

Sunday

8:30 to 11 a.m. - Dealer setup time
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. - Traders market, Fleetwood Mac exhibit, video/audio presentations, card signing, trivia questions, door prizes
3 p.m. - End of program

This gives some idea of how a group of people can put together a full, interesting weekend for Mac fans, including those who are traveling in from out of state.
