After hearing of Jess Nicks' passing I listened to Stevie's cover of Circle Dance, and it makes a lot of sense now. Especially after reading her note on the nicksfix, I think she decided to do this song as a tribute to her father. Of course this is all my personal opinion, and it could be 100% wrong but to me I think this was part of Stevie letting her Dad go. I've read posts here and there about how people would see him rocking out in his wheelchair at her shows, so I'm guessing his health was steadily declining these past few years. Stevie knew, and after all that she had been through (and coincidently put her family through) she just wanted to give a final message of eternal love and admiration for her knight in shining armor. Her source of strength, and of course the man responsible for giving her those ears.
I'm glad he stayed with her through the end of her tours this year. I truly believe he wanted to stay around to be there for Stevie just one more time. It's just another example of what a great guy he was, and how he can be an inspiration for others. |
