Stevie Nicks

Jul. 31, 2005 12:00 AM

Arizona's Stevie Nicks, owner of one of rock's most distinctive voices, brings her Gold Dust tour to Phoenix on Thursday to help raise money for the Arizona Heart Foundation. Joining her will be Don Henley, who has helped Nicks raise funds for the group several times.

1. Local girl - Nicks is the ultimate example of a Valley girl who made good. As a member of Fleetwood Mac, she has sold 70 million albums, and she has added millions more as a solo artist. This time out, the smoky-voiced singer is without her pals in Fleetwood Mac, but she's expected to sample hits from her entire career on Thursday.

2. Perfect harmony - Adding Henley to the bill makes this an even hotter ticket and will be music to the ears of classic-rock fans. The pair seemed perfectly matched on their duet on 1980's Leather and Lace. Henley, a million-selling solo artist in his own right when not flying with the Eagles, can be expected to play such classics as Desperado and Sunset Grill. advertisement

3 Good cause - The concert will help pay for construction of the Heart Foundation's Cardiovascular Research and Education Building, which is to be built at the Arizona Heart Hospital's Phoenix campus. Nicks' father, Jess, has undergone two heart operations and was chairman of the foundation's board for three decades.

Details: 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Dodge Theatre, 400 W. Washington St., Phoenix. $40 to $150, (480) 784-4444, www.dodgetheatre.com.
