Financial Advice

I was wondering if there are any financial whizzes out there who could give me some advice. I have a little bit of money that I want to put aside toward eventually using for a downpayment on a house. I want to put it into an account that will have the biggest growth potential, but I'm not sure what kind. I don't know much about the types of accounts, but a friend mentioned a CD. If anyone has any advice or experience they can share that would be great. Thanks!
