Yeah, field hockey is dangerous. But then, I've always thought soccer was pretty dangerous. Which, apparently, is true, judging by your ankles. LOL @ the floor hockey story. Me, too. i was always beating the sh** out of some boy until all girl sports presented themselves.
My knees are trashed. VB is hella fun (glad to hear you were good!) but I twisted my ankles like, 10 times playing it, and the wear and tear on the knees is hell. Also from Softball and Basketball. Still, I wouldn't trade a minute of it. But I'm also glad I didn't play any "face injury" sports. I'm not down with that. lol, except, I did chip my tooth from Basketball.... I used to just try to be the fastest one during softball, so that I wouldn't have to slide.
