I always knew these 2 albums were very similar to eachother, but until just now I didn't realize HOW similar they were. Just look at how the songs on each match up: (excluding Silver Springs to keep it 11-11)
The most obvious connection is with Stevie's songs. - They each have one Stevie song that was a HUGE hit single and for better of worse are glued to any set list from the moment they were released until the end of time (Rhiannon and Dreams) -They each have another Stevie song that were never singles but are both almost equally as well known and popular (Landslide and Gold Dust Woman) - And then each have a third Stevie song that she wrote but Lindsey kind of either shares or takes over the lead vocal (Crystal and I Don't Want to Know) - Both have very similar in sound and length opening Lindsey songs that both earned quite a bit of radio play and could both be considered honarary singles (Monday Morning and Second Hand News) - Both have Lindsey songs at track 3 and while they dont sound similar at all, both became concert staples (Blue Letter and Never Going Back Again) - And the last Lindsey song on each album were his two signiture songs, one much more of a hit but both very much concert staples (Im So Afraid and Go Your Own Way - Most obvious for Christine of coure is 2 songs with Daddy in the title and what makes it more erie is both are track 10 (Sugar Daddy and Oh Daddy) - Christine had one real slow ballad on each (Warm Ways and Songbird) - Christine had 2 very big singles on each album and I guess the bigger 2 would be these (Say You Love Me and Dont Stop) - The lesser of the 2 but still huge singles, especially the Rumours one are (Over My Head and You Make Loving Fun) - And that leaves the co-written song that appears on each album, although more writers wrote the Rumours one (World Turning and The Chain) So WOW, I kind of had to stretch a little bit at times but not really much at all. Isnt it weird how basically every song corresponds with another on the oppositte album. So now that I've gone through that, lets put the two very popular albums against eachother song by song. Rhiannon vs. Dreams Landslide vs. Gold Dust Woman Crystal vs. I Don't Want to Know Monday Morning vs. Second Hand News Blue Letter vs. Never Going Back Again I'm So Afraidvs. Go Your Own Way Sugar Daddy vs. Oh Daddy Warm Ways vs. Songbird Say You Love Me vs. Don't Stop Over My Head vs. You Make Loving Fun World Turning vs. The Chain So for me its: White Album- 6 Rumours- 5
