Well, last night I finally got a chance to see this film. It stars Audrey Tautou (of Amelie and Happenstance fame) as a young woman trying to find her fiancé at the end of WWI. Despite some incredibly violent scenes, the movie had a lot of humor (that was Amelie-esque, btw) and an incredible interwoven storyline. Definitely a film to check out if you don't mind reading two and a half hours of subtitles.
Also, JODIE FOSTER appears in the film for quite a few scenes as the wife of a soldier speaking fluent and impeccable French! She played her part incredibly well and IMO, she needs to speak French all the time--it softens her up ![]()
