I've sat through enough TV appearances and read enough news reports to get acquainted with his convoluted explanations. The bottom line: Kerry made a political bet in voting for the war because he thought that's what the public wanted and he knew he'd be running for president. When Dean fueled voters' passions with his anti-war talk, Kerry started to slam the war effort. He's full of ****.

Dean held the same point of view as John Kerry, that the only time we should go in is when all diplomatic relations fail. I can quote the man if you'd like. He then went on to say in the months leading up to the war that if Iraq does not prove that they have no weapons, we need to go in. Also, just like Kerry, Dean said that we need to stay in Iraq now that we invaded. Only when it turned into the major f*ck up that it is did Dean change his mind and started to become the "anti-war candidate." In all actuality, he was never the "anti-war candidate," Dennis Kucinish was (and still is), along with Braun. Dean pulled the wool over the eyes of many, but he sure as hell didn't when it came to me. That's why I never supported the guy; he was the king of back-talk.
