Default Hershey review*spoiler*

Well, I decided that since Nissan was cancelled and Camden postponed, I'd make the road trip to Hershey to see the band. It's 3 hour trip and I was falling asleep on my feet by the time I got home-I had Commencement in the am early yeaterday-had to do a reading-so I couldn't sleep late-but the show was definitely worth every minute of the trip.

I got there pretty early and I saw some lucky folks who got to tour the stage. I wonder who they were. The person sitting next to me thought they were maybe the people who bought those $500.00 tix from the fan club. Oh, well. Anyway I was jealous!

The crickets came up and we were ready to start rockin'. The people behind me by the way thought they were hearing cicadas! I told them oh no, this just means the show is about to begin. Sure enough it did. They belted out "The Chain" to a screaming audience and went on to "Dreams". The Lindsey did IKINW and I loved it. It was the first time I've heard this live. Nice change from EOTW even though I love that song, too. Then they did Peacekeeper. Lindsey has a new spoken intro to this that I hadn't heard before. Lindsey then sang "Come" which I had thought they weren't going to do this time but I love it so I am glad they did. I think Kristen was there because Lindsey went over to the left side of the stage and was definitely playing to someone there. I was a little p.o'ed because I wanted the gorgeous man to be on my side of the stage! "Sara" blew me away. It is drop down dead gorgeous and the visual effects at the end are powerful. Stevie could have done it three more times right then and it wouldn't have been too much. I forget the sequence of the songs after this, but hits to me were "Gold Dust Woman", "Rhiannon", "Tusk", "Beautiful Child" and "Goodbye Baby". "Red Rover", like "Come", is better live than on the album. I liked it much better last night than I have before. "Say You Will" has somebody with a high voice singing with Stevie - kind of drowns her out - maybe it was just bad acoustics. I am not sure I like "Goodbye Baby"as well as I did "Songbird" to close the show.

Stevie looks great-has some new shawls!-and her voice seemed fine last night. She really put herself into those numbers last night. I hope she got a lot of rest last night! Lindsey is phenomenal. He was all over the stage, cavorting, and he was swinging guitars around at one point. I counted-he went through about four of them. He has a new one! At least it's one I haven't seen before. John was his usual sweet self and Mick was in his element last night. The other percussionist, Taku, is super and is a good complement to Mick. Brett is doing a great, too! He seems more poised and experienced now. Can you imagine playing with a perfectionist like Lindsey? It would daunt me. Neale and Carlos looked great, too.

Well, it was a great show. I am grateful for the addition of IKINW, Sara and Red Rover to the set list, and disappointed at no Destiny Rules. I wonder if this has been permanently dropped? I would still encourage the band to do some more of the less traditional songs. I'm a mite tired of Rumours and there's so many cool songs they could do instead of the same ones over and over.
