We also have to compare apples with apples here. Shania's so-called "double album" was actually the same single album's worth of songs presented as pop and countrified versions. And I would also be dubious about calling Outkast's "Speakerboxxx/Love Below" a full double album because so much of it is comprised of monologues, interludes, spoken word passages, and lots of throw-away padding. In other words it's a typical hip hop record. But you cannot compare that to a Fleetwood Mac-style double album where you really get two albums worth of fully rendered/produced, unique songs that each stand alone on their own merit. In that regard, if Fleetwood Mac did release SYW as a full double CD after all, it would have been a truly momentous occasion. In fact, I cannot remember the last time a rock/pop act released a proper double album's worth of all-new original material. It very well may have been "Tusk!"

P.S. Guns n Roses doesn't count because they released two separate albums simultaneously. Same with Bruce Springsteen's "Human Touch" and "Lucky Town." Joni Mitchell's "Travelogue" doesn't count because they are all orchestral covers of her earlier works. TuPac doesn't count because he's dead and his estate is raiding the vaults. Prince doesn't count because, well... just because he has no self-restraint. ;-)
