*obvious spoiler if you haven't seen it yet*
I thought the movie was kinda *blah* - of course the best scene was EO17. I watched it again w/ the director's and Jack Black's commentary. Apparently, they originally wanted to use The Chain in that scene. Richard Linklater (director) said "the one with more of the Christine thing, is that the one 'if you don't love me,' yeah, that's it." But Joan Cusack (LOVE her!) really wanted to use EO17 instead. The actors were wearing earwigs to hear the music and Jack said it was hard to nail the "oooh, baby, oooh, said oooohs" in rehearsal. Richard said "Do you think Stevie would like this scene? It is a loving tribute to her." There's also a commentary w/ the kids. The girls were all squealing, "Oh I LOVE this song." One of the girls said, I like the one she did with Tom Petty, Stop Draggin' My Heart Around." They liked Jack's "bird dance" also. ![]() |
