Default Sale of London Home

The London home of late Fleetwood Mac hitmaker Christine McVie has been sold at asking price, only a few months after hitting the market for £6.95 million (US$9.26 million).

The corner duplex occupies the top two floors of a white stucco-fronted building on Eaton Place in the city’s affluent Belgravia neighborhood. The home features three bedrooms, two reception rooms, a rooftop deck and a row of three sash windows on each floor.

It was purchased by a young European couple who heard about the unit through the Fleetwood Mac connection, according to Beauchamp Estates, whose agents brokered the deal. It went into contract within 12 weeks after being listed in March by the singer’s estate, according to selling agent Yahya Swallem.

The singer, keyboardist and songwriter purchased the 2,674-square-foot home in 2014 while it was under development, adding her own input to the design, which includes a Shaker-style kitchen, herringbone flooring in the dining room, tall timber doors, marble fireplaces and tiled bathrooms, according to the listing.

McVie was a key member of Fleetwood Mac’s shifting lineup, and wrote many of the band’s greatest hits during its 1970s peak, including “Say You Love Me,” “You Make Loving Fun” and “Don’t Stop.”

McVie continued touring throughout the decades, with her final show in February 2020, just before the pandemic began. She died in 2022 at age 79.

The buyers could not immediately be identified.

Belgravia is an affluent neighborhood in Central London lined with terraced stucco houses such as this one, intermingled with gardens and high-end retail and restaurants.

“This high-profile sale reflects the enduring appeal of London’s most prestigious addresses,” said Beauchamp Estates’ managing director Jeremy Gee.
