so ok, she finishes college on mom and dad's dime, and THEN what??

She can bs about being a teacher all she wants, but if you know any ACTUAL teachers in the US, there is no way in hell she'd have survived that. No way.

She would have found ways/places to continue singing. I think of the interview during the Dance era, that one where she's sitting on the road case and Lindsey nuzzles her.... and they were talking about playing small places and how they'd (S&L) been offered gigs in steakhouses and the like and Lindsey was like nope, and she freely admitted she'd have taken those gigs. She'd be doing what Shania did early in her career-- clubs, casinos, cruise ships...if that's all she could get.

Might she have met yet another talented person/man who fell in love with her and because of that helped her make her stories and demos etc into something more viable? Quite possibly. Or she'd be living in a dump with 6 cats. Who knows.

I have my own theory that she was clinging to Tom Petty even as far back as the 80s because she really wanted to join the band and leave Fleetwood Mac. She barely participated in the making of Mirage, Tango, etc etc.
