"A book is something with a beginning and an end, a space where the reader has to enter, roam, maybe get lost but at some point find a way out, or maybe several ways out, the opportunity to open a way to snap out of it."

Italo Calvino, 15 October 1923 – 19 September 1985

I had forgotten how much I had loved this author until now. His publishing house is about to release a republication of his last work Six Memos for the Next Millennium, 5 lessons he was going to give at Harvard University before his death for a strock.
I think I'll try to purchase it and I suggest anyone to do as well as his lesson on the principle of "lightness" particularly striked me:

"After forty years of writing fiction, after exploring various ways and making diverse experiments, the time has come that I look for an overall definition for my work; I would suggest this: my working method has been more often than not the subtraction of weight; I tried to remove weight, sometimes from people, sometimes from heavenly bodies, sometimes from cities; above all I have tried to remove weight from the structure of the story and from language"
