Firstly, I think "hey" is often, not always, a throwaway word. The melody really doesn't require the note where 'hey' sits. Singing "it's so romantic, it's so soulful" or even just "So soulful", works fine by me. Through the words and the music I imagine the person who is singing the song (male or female) as being a bit, for lack of a better word, refined. 'hey' just bursts that bubble for me. "Romantic" works. Soulful, eh...sure it's a legit word, but it' a peculiar word to describe a thunderstorm or place or an emotion (our emotions come from our souls, they're naturally soulful). "Soulful" is defined as way to describe something that is expressed: "Stevie nicks soulful rendition of At Last was a highlight of the show." I love "When I see you again". I love me some odd Stevie lyrics, but "hey"...nope, kills it for me. |
