Since I am a new member of this forum I feel the need to introduce myself and tell a short story about my admiration towards Queen of Rock and Roll-Stevie Nicks. My name is Piotrek and I live in a beautiful country-Poland. I had known Fleetwood Mac's 80's singles like "Little Lies" and "Everywhere" but I discovered Stevie Nicks in 2003, when I read an article about female rock stars. This particular article made me realize two things: 1). little did I know about 'female' rock scene; 2). little did I know about Fleetwood Mac's legacy and long history of recording career. I told myself: "Boy you have to do something about it, you have to get the knowledge". But no matter how much I was intrigued by Fleetwood Mac I decided to discover their output by starting with Stevie Nicks' solo projects. This is how I came by "The Other Side of The Mirror". It was my first Stevie Nicks album ever, my introduction to the fairytale world of the singer. I read all the reviews posted on Amazon and figured out that it probably would not be the "best first choice". But I took a chance and to be honest...I was taken aback like never before. The beauty of her voice captured me right from the first verses of "Rooms On Fire". I was possessed. It was magical experience, that instantly inspired me to write about 20 poems on my own (no matter how pretensious they seem to be now). It moved every muscle in my brain, inspired every single detail of my life. I used to spend hours analyzing lyrics or inflections of her voice. I knew I would have to explore her music and follow her artistic paths. The second album that I bought was "Street Angel". I was waiting for this album for months, since in Poland it is almost impossible to get any of Stevie Nicks solo albums. The album was worth waiting (no matter what other people say, including Stevie herself, I still think this album is magnificent). Then came: "Timespace", "Rock a Little", "Trouble In Shangri-La", "The Wild Heart", "In Your Dreams" and most recently (and most strangely) "Bella Donna". I don't know what Stevie Nicks' music gives YOU personally, but for me it's just a chance to cohabit with powerful and meaningful art, something that it's hard to put into few words. It's something, that grabs my heart and soul, that inspires me on every possible level, that gives me drive and motivation to set goals and realize them. I do what I can to "educate" my friends in the realm of Stevie Nicks' artistic greatness (my girlfriend says that Stevie is my "first true love"). I convince, them to give her a chance, just like I did it for myself almost ten years ago. For me it was life-changing, eyes-opening decision. All in all, I feel privileged to call myself a Stevie Nicks fan. Even though I haven't got a chance to see her live, I am proud to collect her CD's, DVD's and all that stuff...I am proud to be a part of her magical world of music...So, even from a distance...I am a big fan and that's what I wanted to share with YOU.
