Default CD singles?

I like collecting CD singles, especially if they have bonus tracks/b-sides not available on any albums.

Has "Secret Love" been released as a CD single, or just as a digital single?

I wonder the same about the upcoming single "For What It's Worth."

Supposedly there is one other track from the In Your Dreams sessions that is still in the can. It would be really nice to see that track released, as well as live tracks from her recent show.

I love to collect those too, and since the single was available for download so early, I have been very leery of the ones on Ebay. What are legit and what aren't? I like the fact that she has digital singles now...it's so "modern" for Stevie, but as an old fart completest...I want cd singles for my collection!

There is only one promotional single for "Secret Love." Warner/Reprise CD promotional singles have the same design template. The back tray art is simple b&w as is the art on the disc itself. Always in jewel cases. Some may have an front insert. "Secret Love" does have an insert.

The discs being sold in cardboard sleeves and have a an image of Stevie on the disc itself are CDr fakes. Mostly being sold by UK & Irish sellers. They will deny, of course, and say that's how they came from label, etc. but it's not true. Also, they're all using the same photo with a red backdrop.

Last I knew singles were still big in Europe and Japan but here in the States they ate pretty much extinct. The best chance to get a bonus track would be on an import CD.

There isn't a commercial/retail CD single release for "Secret Love" - domestic or international - and it's unlikely "For What It's Worth" would be available as a retail CD single. Very few CD singles are manufactured and usually it's Lady Gaga and Lady Gaga. Internationally, they are more common. However, Amazon burn on demand CDr service, so who knows? I don't think any Stevie titles are available in this format yet.

The promo CD single I mentioned earlier is the one-track CD sent to radio and press.

If Reprise decides to go with a club remixes of a IYD track, it's somewhat likely there could be a physical CD release, but even "Stand Back 2007" was originally intended as a digital only release, but Warner snuck the single out claiming it would take too long for everyone to sign off on, and manufactured 1,000 CDs (half of which went to online dance music retailer perfectbeat.com) and the other 500 went on to online and standard retailers who get automatic quantities.

I miss singles....vinyl, cd, cassette. I used to love getting the radio edits/remixes and the b-sides when they were rare or live tracks! Ahhhh....the good ol' days!

I have a substantial collection of those. Most cherished is my Blue Denim cassingle, which features the rare cassingle-released only song "Mirror, Mirror."

I also have small collections of other outdated formats, including reel-to-reels and 8-tracks!

Does not compute. lol
It seemed that during BTM, they were adding a lot of bits and pieces from back catalog as b-sides and/or additions to the singles they were releasing, but this is an odd piece, and one I've never seen before. Can anyone enlighten me? What live version of Sara it is. I thought I was sure that OW & Sara weren't done on the Dance tour. Have I compltely lost my "I think I know a lot about FM" points??

I have that CD single. The "Sara" and "Oh Well" are the same tracks from the 1980 Live album. Oddly redundant inclusions, aren't they?

It is really strange! Thanks for the reply tho. Man, don't even get me started on my stuff. I have been collecting for so long, often times it seems TOO much, and no I'm not trying to be a jerk and "woe is me" on all the stuff I have, I just can't say no to an SN/FM item. lol I was going to add in a post to this thread for people to add some pics of cd singles. It's always fun to see and learn what all is out there. Thank you for that one pic!!

Years ago as an undergrad I accidentally left the cassette single for "Two Kinds of Love" in a college lounge. When I went to find it, I realized somebody must have taken/stolen it. A life of crime does not pay if that is the song you end up having to hear.

The UK 12" vinyl singles have amazing glossy picture sleeves, fold-out posters, and some were even gatefold. I still have a the 12-inch "Has Anyone Ever Written" and the 12-inch "Rooms on Fire," which came with double-side fold-out poster (below) measuring 24" x 48." I had the gatefold 12-inch "Long Way to Go" and "Whole Lotta Trouble," but they were badly water damaged- along with all of my concert programs, HWW calendar, etc. - when my central air-conditioning unit poured water into a closet.

I'm restoring this thing as a digital file by creating a composite from multiple scans, but it is taking a long time.
