No extended versions please.. I hated that with Stevie's album. I feel it cheapens the product, although I'd love to hear more from LB.

Fleetwood Mac guitarist describes solo set as “best ever”

His Fleetwood Mac band-mate and former girlfriend Stevie Nicks recently described it as the best thing he has ever done, which is saying something. And apparently, guitarist and songwriter Lindsey Buckingham concurs. He has now confirmed details of his latest and forthcoming solo disc along with news of supporting tour dates.

Buckingham will release Seeds We Sow, his sixth solo album, on September 6. The album is Buckingham's first self-release, in which he took a true DIY approach, writing and performing every song on the record and producing and mixing as well, according to AntiMusic.com.
Buckingham also announced a 31-city North American tour in support of the album which kicks off on September 9 in Nevada and continues through October 25 in Napa, CA. Only one Canadian date has so far been announced - October 22 at Vancouver’s Centre for Performing Arts - but that could and likely will change.

“This might be the best work I've ever done. I think it's an excellent representation of what I do,” AntiMusic.com reports. “It shows a certain maturity and musicianship and I just feel like I have a lot of tools in my musical vocabulary from which to draw that are again the product of the choices I've made. It's on my own terms. This is very much from the inside out and I hope I never stop doing that."

A live performance of the new album’s first single, “In Our Own Time" that was recorded in L.A. last April is captured below; Buckingham prefaces the song with some background on the making of the disc. Check it out.

Ha, they used one of my videos to promote the album at least in that article. So glad I went to that show.

SEEDS WE SOW
1) Seeds We Sow - WHAT WE KNOW: Wiltern live version appeared on YouTube late, so I didn't give it many listens. Had very nice moments and a weird vocalization (a ta-ta-ta vocal guitar line).
2) In Our Own Time - WHAT WE KNOW: Will be the first single. It has a melodic switch up that reminds me of SOMETHING (a Christmas song or SOMETHING) that makes it instantly memorable, enjoyable, and moving. Great pop song.
3) Illumination - WHAT WE KNOW: The grooooviest song Lindsey has ever done.
4) That’s The Way Love Goes - WHAT WE KNOW: Lindsey's punk song, it's the closest to a Tusk track he's done since Law & Order. It also has the most instantaneously hooky and body-moving chorus he's written since the hey-day. (Every time I've played this song for someone, it seems to turn into a pub sing-a-long… during the FIRST listen!)
5) Stars Are Crazy - WHAT WE KNOW: The immediate fan favorite; it's as heartbreaking a summation of the Lindsey-Stevie saga as her "Everybody Loves You." The die-hard Lindsey-ites argue that it offers more emotional transparency than musical invention, however.
6) When She Comes Down - WHAT WE KNOW: THE FIRST SONG HE'S WRITTEN ABOUT HIS WIFE??!!!!!! "The Right Place to Fade" IS about Stevie. yay!
7) Rock Away Blind - WHAT WE KNOW: ???
8) One Take - WHAT WE KNOW: Rumoured to be the hardest-rocking song on the album(?)
9) Gone Too Far - WHAT WE KNOW: ???
10) End Of Time - WHAT WE KNOW: Can't wait to hear how it sounds in a studio-produced version, but the live version joins the upper echelons of contemporary Lindsey (joining "Steal Your Heart Away," "Bleed to Love Her," "Shut Us Down," and "The Right Place to Fade" in my estimation).
11) She Smiled Sweetly - WHAT WE KNOW: This Rolling Stones cover is the only track whose origin resides in the Gift of Screws sessions, so this one is actually available in a studio-produced bootleg. It. Is. GORGEOUS. So if it provides a clue as to the sound of this album, we in are in for a treat. WOW. JUST. WOW.

Interesting that we've heard the entire first half of the album. Then, for the second half, we've just heard the final and penultimate tracks. So what we know is: a) the first half is going to a humdinger and 2) the album ends on two beaaaauuuutiful songs.

ETA: Any other info/rumours/word on those four unheard tracks?

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

Thanks for posting that, SNLB. Interesting reading.

Is that the cover of the CD, I wonder? I like it! Except for the way they have Seeds We Sow..that looks odd to me. LOL Otherwise, LOVE the pic.

I checked on tickets for Minneapolis, and they were selling "Seeds We Sow" along with the ticket for $10.99. The photo on the cd is the same as the promo pic with the guitar.

Yes, thank you SNLB.

Is it just me, or does it feel like the more we find out about SWS the farther September 6 seems??

I also like the pic which I guess is being used to promote the tour. It has the red background and it really POPS! Love LB's guitar on those two pics too. I kind of wish he didn't look so "angry" in the pictures, though. Rock stars...

I wonder if they'll sell Seeds We Sow at the shows autographed like they have at past tours with his previous solo albums? Like I could wait that long to buy it. Hahaha!

Liked what he said about End of Time and being dead and gone. And that was hilarious, Stevie asking if When She Comes Down was about some type of goddess. The fact that it is described as touching makes me think it's going to be sappy.

Buckingham wanted the guitar to be a unifying sound on this record. “Again I was interested in pursuing an orchestral guitar style that would be at the forefront of a lot of tunes,” he says.
"orchestral guitar style"... explain.

Quote:
The result is often sophisticated word play that possesses the rare double gift of being simultaneously personal and open to interpretation. A perfect example being “When She Comes Down,” which he calls, “The first song I wrote for my wife,” but one that has already piqued curiosity among friends. “Stevie [Nicks] heard that and she goes, ‘Who’s that about? Some goddess?’”
THE FIRST SONG HE'S WRITTEN ABOUT HIS WIFE??!!!!!! wow. just. wow.

Stevie is hilarious.
Quote:
The album’s lyrics are Buckingham’s most subjective to date and seem to pit social commentary against personal observation. “’Illumination’ could be about honest relationships or interrogation, and there’s ‘One Take,’ which is clearly talking about the state of the world, or the state of America at least. But as soon as these are done, the subject matter returns to something more personal. “Even the opening song, ‘Seeds We Sow,’ is talking about observing a world which seems to be going crazy. But then at the end of the song you’re back in bed dreaming or with your spouse and you’ve turned that whole convoluted world back in on yourself.”
Lots of this doubling on SYW, GOS. He's good at it. Def an advance 4 linds.

I believe he means that he gets lots of rich sound from his guitar by playing that "waterfall" type of stuff ala Bel Air Rain. It sounds like a plethora of guitars, when really...it's just Lindsey's going-crazy hands.

Does that make sense?
