I've tried to do this. But, IMO, there's very few perfect albums, in my book. Most records have at least 1 song I cannot sit through. IYD has 3 Ah well, different strokes.

I just don't understand when people respond like this. I can understand it with some of her past albums that I thought were god-awful. However, not this album. There isn't a true dud on the record. Every song is produced to its fullest and the lyrics have been worked out. She really did a good job with this and she sounds great.

I just wonder if she were to have come out with crap if people would just ralley behind it because they knew it was crap. TISL isn't even half the album this thing is and people have criticized it less on some boards.

The only song on IYD that I truly, absolutely cannot abide by is My Heart. There's something about it that just sets my teeth on edge. Maybe one day I'll warm to it; I used to loathe The Highwayman, Sable On Blond, WISYA - and now I really adore them.

What I'm really enjoying about IYD is that my favourite song seems to be switching all the time. There's no obvious hit on the album; but I think that's a good thing, on her previous solo albums, I've been drawn to the songs with the biggest hit potential and neglected the deeper album cuts, whilst with IYD, I fully appreciate all of the songs. They flow so well on my iTunes shuffle, as well. It's quite nice to go from, say, Stand Back to New Orleans. Now that I have them and I've gotten accustomed to them, I can't imagine these songs not existing.

Everybody Loves You is my favorite or 2nd favorite track. It's a deep musically, and doesn't depend on a chorus. Has change ups and very nice guitar part. I like atmosphere and that track has it. It's my Nightbird of the album.

I don't consider My Heart really being on the album. It's just a bonus cut.

My favorites switch a lot too. It's like listening to the radio. There is just soo much variation and this album sounds great in the car on the road.

That doesn't make them duds, it makes them songs that you don't personally like.

I wish people could differentiate better between something that they just don't care for versus something that actually is lower quality. I can tell you that "Ghosts Are Gone" is my least favorite song on the album, but even though I don't care for it that much, I can recognize that it's still a well-written and well-performed song.

Yeah, I wasn't initially very warm about "Ghosts Are Gone"...but now, sometimes, it feels so good to listen to....that driving guitar. I realized this recently when playing some online iPad game with a friend while it played. I felt I scored better.

I never disliked ELY but it has definitely become one of my favorites on the album. There's so just so much going on musically in this song. It could have been a run of the mill snoozer but it's chock full of great stuff, including terrific lyrics and a wonderfully sensual vocal.

There is something for everyone on this album .A coworker of mine whose Stevie fandom predates even mine ..in fact she has been a Fleetwood Mac fan before Buckingham and Nicks joined bought the album and with baited breath I asked her what her favorite song was .Without hesitati0n she smiled and said "Cheaper than Free!"I told her what my favorites were without a comment on the one song that I'd like to see go.It did teach me that if it made her ,a fan of nearly 40 years happy, it too should stay.

That's why i said IMO further down in my post I do recognize that ELY is well crafted. It still puts me to sleep...so sorry

I agree. Although I really don't consider "My Heart" when I speak of how great an album IYD is in general, since it's not on the official album track-list, only the fan edition. Something for me is still off about this song. Some parts are improved upon but overall I think I've now decided I prefer the TISL version, which I coincidentally just re-listened to this weekend after many many months. I like the softer string-laden verses and lyric placement on it much better. The change up on the lyrics is what grates me the most on the new version, it feels clunky, awkward & generic. Although ultimately, I must admit I've never loved this song as some do & think it was the correct choice to drop from the official track-list. The TISL version would have fit better on that album, say in place of TMMS, but to me it not an essential song.

And on the latter, I couldn't agree more. I had the hardest time even considering picking a favorite song on IYD the first few weeks I heard the album because I loved all of them almost equally (even CTF). I've narrowed it to about 5 or 6 favorites, but the others are still terrific! And, yes all the songs flow beautiful on shuffle - as chiliD says, this album really does deserve to be heard "back to front, front to back". I'd only drop My Heart. I also just bought my 4th copy today - I gave one away as a gift (my niece), one for my partners car, one for my car, & the fan edition still unwrapped in case you were left scratching your head (yup I'm crazy - but Stevie is the only one I do this for & I rarely buy CD's anymore). But this is my 1st IYD 13 track version, just to not have to skip MH in the car

So right. This song is musically deep and atmospheric and goes all the way. The song is as good as it can get. I love the Bird on the Wire part and if I'll were compiling a greatest hits for Stevie, this would be on it. I almost feel the same way about You May Be the One. Both songs come late in the album and they add just sooo much depth.
