Is there still a rule about The Ledge not letting you sign up w/ free e-mail accounts? I wonder if that could be Jason's problem.

Heaven help me if I ever get locked out of my Ledge account; I think I signed up w/ an Earthlink e-mail account that hasn't been active in about 7 or 8 years.

To my knowledge there is no rule against free email accounts. I signed up with a free email account in 2001, and I still have a free email account today.

You must have a current valid email in your profile in case you do get locked out, though. So update your email in your User CP if you haven't done so already .

they must have changed the rules after you registered, then, because when i joined you couldn't use a free account. they said it prevented spam.

I've been afraid to update my e-mail address b/c all I have is Gmail and I was afraid it would lock me out due to the "no free e-mail account" rule. But I'll update now and see what happens.

I don't know what to tell you guys. His original screenname is in the system and is good to go. In fact, I see he last logged in 2 days ago. His new screenname appears to have been booted by the system. This is either because 1) he used the same email address to sign up for a new name 2) he has the same IP address as his original screenname. Either one will automatically kick you out of the system as a duplicate. I can't see how Jason's having problems with his original screenname if he signed in 2 days ago, and nothing's amiss in his profile on our administrative control panel. The only thing I can suggest once again is for somebody to tell him to try using a different internet browser (ie: Chrome, Firefox, etc), and see if that helps. Whatever the problem is, it's on his end, not the Ledge's .

I was with him when he tried to log on with his iphone. I could log on but he couldn't. There is definitely something on the server side, methinks.

What happens when he tries to log in? I've seen him online in the last few days...I wonder if it's showing him on the active members list at the bottom when, to him, it looks like he's having log-in issues?

It kind of goes into limboland... he just gets to that "thanks for logging in" page (or some kind of interstitial page), and it just hangs there indefinitely. That's probably why he is shown as having "logged in," even though he really is unable to get beyond the interstitial to any of the forums.

Hmm...I'd say it was a problem with his browser, computer, or Internet connection, but if it's doing it no matter where he logs in (iPhone, other computers, etc.), and doesn't do it when someone else logs in on the same machine, then it does seem like a Ledge issue. What that problem would be, I can't begin to imagine.

Is there somewhere you admin/mod types can go for technical support for the forum? Maybe you could ask if this is a known issue.
