Oh, contemporary country is awful, and has been for 25 years. I was talking about *real* country.

I like a good bit of contemporary country though, but more the singer-songwriter type iif that makes sense. Allison Moorer, Shely Lynne, Steve Earle, Rosanne Cash, Sugarland, Sara Evans (ok, they're pop country but good!), Julie Roberts, Lucinda Williams, Nickel Creek, Alison Krauss and Union Station (more bluegrass though)

Another interesting thread. I can not understand how anyone could not love, much less hate, the Highwayman. But then again, I don't understand how anyone can not loathe The Nightmare To each his or her own

Anyway....

1. The Nightmare
2. Sister Honey
3. Somebody Stand by Me ( I sincerely hate this song with a passion)
4. Some Become Strangers
5. Whole Lotta Trouble
6. Gretta
7. Docklands
8. Love is Like a River
9. Unconditional Love
10. If I Were You

Kevin

There aren't any songs I really hate/can't stand... I'm pretty tolerant when it comes to music, but of course there are some I usually don't listen to and generally don't care much for.

In no particular order, my least favorite are:
1.) The Highwayman
2.) The Second Time
3.) Inspiration
4.) Just Like A Woman
5.) I Sing For The Things
6.) Destiny
7.) When I See You Again
8.) Races Are Run
9.) Goodbye Baby
10.) I Still Miss Someone (Blue Eyes)
11.) God's Garden
12.) Somebody Stand By Me <--- OK, this one I might come close to hating LOL!

Now, Unconditional Love, Jane & Silver Girl, I can understand more. But it sure seems like some here are just bored and blatantly including songs for shock value. IDK, these lists are soooo tiresome already, and people are certainly entitled to express their displeasure. But this just proves Stevie can never live up to everyones taste/expectations no matter how good the album/songs or musical arrangements and production are.
Taste is not logical. I just plain don't like those songs. I don't like country, and I don't like sappy. All the songs listed are either one or the other. It has nothing to do with shock value. I just really don't like the songs I listed. I don't make accusations when people say they hate Blue Denim, Kick It, Illume, and Love Is Like A River... I really wish people would extend me the same courtesy. We don't all have to be uniform Steviebots.

To be honest I'm having trouble thinking of them.

I have some that I don't prefer compared to others, but really the ones that I used to detest and skip over... they grew on me over time.

For instance, I used to detest Rooms on Fire, mostly because the 'if I do say so myself' and the repetition of the word room in two consecutive lines really made me cringe for some reason. But after a while I grew to appreciate it and now I quite like the song.

I'm sure there are some that I just can't stand, but at the moment they aren't coming to mind.

Bingo. I agree.

Here's one that's gonna make me even more popular with Stevie fans........Beauty and the Beast.

It is so over the top and in your face. So Overly dramatic, so overly Stevie....it's like self parody. Just AWFUL.....GAH!!!!!!!

Good choices. I particularly love Lucinda Williams, Roseanne Cash, and Alison Krauss.

Also, I will occasionally listen to Dolly Parton, Pasty Cline, Loretta Lynn and The Judds.

Is That's Alright really considered country? I mean it has a country feel to it but I wouldn't exactly classify it as country music. It's one of my all-time favorite songs and I'm not a big fan of country so just curious what you all think. Also, just b/c I'm not a big fan of the genre as a whole doesn't mean I can't love a few songs here and there.
