Rumours will get the Glee Treatment! - Page 4

As I've said before, I've never watched Glee, but I was wondering about how many songs do they perform on each episode? Would they do every song from the Rumours LP?

I just hope that the songs maintain their edge cause alot of the songs aren't exactly "kid friendly"!

Honestly, I'm having a hard time understanding some of the histrionics. What's the worst that can happen? Even if they somehow manage to completely butcher the songs, I can't see that they'll ruin Rumours forever.
Have they destroyed the legacies of any other artists? I think some fans are worried about FM having any association with Glee, but the hubbub around the special eps tends to die down pretty quickly. They will rarely be mentioned in the same breath two weeks after it airs. No catastrophe here.

And it will introduce a whole new generation to the music, drum up some enthusiasm, and very possibly make Lindsey and Stevie want to take advantage of the interest they know is coming. Our philosophical fairy is doubtless seeing commercial gods on the horizon.

I can't say I love the production on Glee (too much autotune), but the show has some fantastic singers. Though not exceptional, the music is fairly consistently good.

Yes, I agree with all of this!

Obviously, no one likes to hear their favorite songs done injustice, but in the long run - even if their covers aren't so great - all this episode could ever do is bring FM attention (specifically in a younger generation that probably isnt familiar with them). And, who knows, maybe they'll do a really good job!

As for how many songs they usually sing.. this season, they've done anywhere from 4-11, but not always full songs. They don't actually have time in the episode to do the entire album all the way through - episodes are generally around 40 minutes of actual screen time. However, if they wanted, and they've done it in the past, they will do some full songs and others only show a portion of it.

I'd bet that they'll probably only do about 6 or 7, with a few of those not being the entire song. That's just a guess though.

I think it averages about 7, so they'll probably cut some of the songs.

I don't think they'll do much to make the songs kid-friendlier. Their most obvious edits have been around curse words (not an issue here) and the most obviously inappropriate lyrics--mature themes haven't been an issue.
I mean, they sang Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch Me and Sweet Tranvestite in the Rocky Horror ep--those are WAY more controversial than anything on Rumours. A couple of lyrics might be edited, but probably nothing major. Someone was wondering about GDW because it refers to cocaine, but I really doubt it would stop them from doing the song because the meaning is fairly obscure. No 12-year-old is going to hear "silver spoon" and think of drugs.

Love these ideas

I'm bleh about the Glee thing. I agree with mezzoforte -- the worst case scenario isn't too awful and if it can make a difference for even one poor kid starved of quality music, that's great

I can't wait! This is one of my fave shows!

They did a good job with the 'Madonna' themed episode & Stevie loves this show.

The guys on this show are HOT!!

Songs are usually are edited for length since it's an hour-long show, but the CD releases always feature the full-length recording.

Glee recently surpassed Elvis' for the artist/band/singer with most entries on the Hot 100 singles chart.

Couldn't agree more with this. I tried to write a post along these lines the other week in the Stevie forum and it kept coming out much too snarky for what I intended. I'm glad a wordsmith like you came along

It doesn't say when the episode will air, just that there is an upcoming episode titled, "Rumors".

I keep misspelling "Rumours"

If this episode ever airs, I'll be glad to see it. And I'd think any of the Rumours-era Mac members would be honored to have their music be rediscovered by a new generation.

Yeah--Finn gets Go Your Own Way. Quinn will probably get Dreams. Not sure what Rachel will (over)sing but Songbird's my guess. Betcha' Kirk gets Oh Daddy...
