Yoko Ono's Surprise Rebirth as a Dance Music Icon
The 78-year-old artist has had six consecutive Number One dance hits
A quick glance at Billboard's Dance/Club Play Songs chart shows many unsurprising names: Britney Spears, Rihanna, Taio Cruz, Kylie Minogue and Florence + The Machine. Up above all of them, at the Number One spot, is Yoko Ono with a dance remix of her super obscure 1972 album track "Move On Fast." It's her sixth consecutive Number One dance hit. "Those are all incredibly creative people on the chart with me," Ono tells Rolling Stone. "I respect Lady Gaga very much. I feel a touch guilty that I'm up there. But it's all right, that happens."

Silent film of historic John Lennon and Elton John N.Y. show surfaces

There have been audio recordings, both bootleg and legitimate, of former Beatle John Lennon's surprise appearance with Elton John in 1974 at Madison Square Garden, but here is the first known video footage of the show. There's no sound, unfortunately, but it's fantastic it's finally out there.

Love the new GOASTT interview. They always sound so intelligent/quirky/modest to me. I love the part where Sean sets Char a little straight after he discusses the media comparing her to Yoko- whom Sean mentions is SO different from Char- and then Charlotte says, "people think you're trying to be like your dad just because you wear glasses..." And Sean says, "yeah, well that's different because I look like him and he's my dad..."

It is totally different because, unlike Yoko and Charlotte who don't look alike/aren't similar artistically/are not related/are from two very different cultural backgrounds Sean is John's child. Big difference, but so cute that they have a relationship so strong they can actually set each other straight without even upsetting the other. It's an intellectual pairing in so many ways, and in that sense VERY much like Sean's parents. But only in that sense.

WOW that is AWESOME footage of that concert! I mean, WHO had a flippin' VIDEOCAMERA with them, at a concert in 1974??? Amazing...thanks for posting that! It makes you wonder how much more hidden footage/pictures/audio of some of these historic concerts is sitting in people's attics and basements. Makes me want to go on a treasure hunt

msLinds · #**295** 03-13-2011, 03:10 AM

And to continue that theme for a bit...since Yoko will be playing at SXSW in a few days how about a few JohnandYoko pics for those who care to look?

3rd World Man · #**298** 03-13-2011, 09:00 PM

BTW Nico, GREAT pictures of John and Yoko getting married! Now for an actual (maybe original) contribution from me!

Ok, maybe only a few of you John Lennon fans will be interested in this story:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/mosl...-restored.html

John Lennon's first car wasn't a Beetle (haha), it was a Ferrari! Apparently, someone has restored john Lennon's original Ferrari 330 GT 2. The article states:
"It's not a good vintage, but this one did belong to John Lennon. In fact, it was the first car he owned, as he didn’t take his driving test until after Beatles For Sale came out.
The papers reported it and the next morning every cash-hungry car dealer in Surrey was outside his house (Kenwood in Weybridge, bought for £20,000 seven months before). You can imagine the scene. He was offered Maseratis, an Aston Martin DB5 and an* E-Type Jag, but this is what he picked."

Now, you have to agree, it's a beautiful car, and I can understand why John was enamored by it. But he must have been disappointed, as he sold it less than a year later. But, in the end, the Rolls-Royce he decked out in psychedelia was a much better fit for him ;-)

awww…isn't Julian so cute here? Hmmm….wonder what happened? JK NICO!!!!

Thanks Nico and 3rd World Man for posting those great and cool photographs of John and Yoko. Thanks 3rd World Man for posting and sharing that article about John's first car.
