Thank you, Sanne2, for posting the crystal ball hologram. Are there any other poses in that piece? Stevie looks very mysterious and intense. I wonder if there is a full-length shot of her standing on the checkerboard floor holding that crystal. Only Herbert knows!

Good point. You're probably right that that's why that floor was used.

Also, that's why Stevie has to stay in contact with the board. If you aren't touching it, then you turn to glass (mirror) and you lose your substance. It's only when you're on the board that your inner chess piece is revealed. Lose touch, lose your base, and you might as well be a statue.

Well, there's the live version of "Rooms On Fire" in May 1989 on that Dutch (German?) TV show, with Stevie in that black dress and huge black hat, and that grin plastered on her face throughout the song. I swear, she's totally drunk!

Also, there's the May 1989 One To One interview with that English woman, where Stevie actually tries to be funny (another instance of her mimicking Christine!).
That was a Dutch TV show and she was totally sober. I met her like 20 minutes after that and she was stone cold sober.

What show was that, was it "Countdown"? How come this isn't anywhere online?

It was called "Rock Over Europe" and had all sorts of artists like Joe Jackson, Duran Duran, Wendy & Lisa etc. She only did ROF. Here's a pic of me & her taken right after that show:

This is what she wore during that show. This was taken right after she came back to the hotel. The show was at Carre and she stayed at the Amstel, 5 mins away. So when she did ROF we went straight to the hotel and this pic was taken on the steps of the Amstel. Some people here have footage of the show, I unfortunately do not.

And I don't think I've already said it but it's so great that you're here again! A while ago I bought a bunch of old Dutch fanzines, "The Chain" I saw your name and I wondered what had happened with you, and now you're back!

You're welcome and thanks for the compliment but that was many years (and many lbs) ago. It was taken in 1989.

I bought mine on Marktplaats.nl but I think I've only seen them listed once.

Fabulous thread, everyone has some great observations to make.

I really think TOSOTM is one of her most emotionally intense albums as a whole. This is the first solo Stevie album I owned and it came at a very sad and emotional time in my own life...I believe this is why I became such a fan of Stevie, because I felt the pain of the songs on this album and it reflected my own.

I am so happy for the place that Stevie is in her personal life now, that she came through all that had happened to her and is here to tell the tale...and she really does seem to be happy now, watching her on those behind the scenes videos of Glee is a delight.

Thanks again for this thread, I've really enjoyed reading it.
