Default Songs Written in Phoenix

I was listening to an old radio interview with Stevie the other day, & she said that she wrote "Bella Donna," "Edge of Seventeen," AND "Straight Back" in Phoenix at her old hacienda.

I'm almost embarrassed to say that's one of the reasons I moved to Phoenix! .....but then Stevie moved away :-(

She wrote Space Needle in Boise, inspired by the gnarly sprouts growing from the eyes of a potato she kept too long.

I'm glad you still listen to Stevie interviews, now and then.

Michele

If I were to bet, I'd say she wrote Desert Angel there too.

This? Is the real reason I admire SN. She's all about exercising a talent, no matter how intrinsically 'big' that talent might be.

See, I know a lot of people who say they're not gonna write or sing or act or paint at all, if they can't do it at like 10/10, world-class, level. But no one just wakes up and is suddenly working at 10/10. You have to be prepared to work at 2, 3 and 4/10 to even open the door to the possibility of 8, 9 and 10/10.

Sitting down and writing a song inspired by decomposing veg = being prepared for that to end up in a song that ends up being 3 or 4/10. But hey, it actually didn't, it ended up better than that (7 or 8/10, imo).

Do I wish she'd put her lyrics through another (i.e. a second) draft sometimes? God, yes. But she's a great model for anyone who just needs to learn to put process ahead of product. Like me.
