That is not to say that if I ran in to her somewhere and we found we had something in common that I wouldn't want to talk to her about that. I would enjoy it, if we both grew tulips for competition or something and we could discuss that together. But I never want to go, "Oh, I'm such a big fan. I'm so thrilled to meet you." I think that's stupid. On the other hand, there are some people that I think about talking to all the time. Cher is out with all of this Burlesque publicity and the things she is saying about Sonny are making me kind of mad and I would love to meet Chastity Bono (Chaz) and just tell her what a fan I am of her father's music and just let her know I can recite the words to even his most obscure songs by heart. Let her know that when I say I'm a fan, I don't mean I'm an I Got You Babe fan. Let her know that the best thing Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks ever did for me was Needles and Pins. Also this week I was thinking of Nigella Lawson's dead husband and thinking I wanted to meet her and tell her that the columns John Diamond wrote when he was dying of cancer stay with me until this day, almost a decade later. I remember being in the intensive care unit while my dad was having surgery and the doctor's bedside manner was so frustrating, but so exactly like what John Diamond had described in one of his columns, that I was laughing and crying in the hospital and I thought, if I ever saw Nigella Lawson or one of her kids Bruno or Cosima at an airport, I would tell her that. I just want them to know that after the initial outpouring of grief and sympathy, even years later, John Diamond's words live on. John Diamond had esophagal cancer and he did outrageous things. He would put liquor directly into his stomach tube and, of course, smoke through his tracheotomy. When Michael Douglas announced his cancer, I thought of John Diamond immediately. I so often do. So, there are people I want to gush about and I wore an LB t-shirt to one of his shows and was thrilled when he commented on it. Still, I never wanted to shake his hand. I also don't want to ask him for a guitar pick, but if one fell on the floor, I would pick it up! Michele |

Yes, I know. Hopefully when I meet Chaz I won't have to use any personal pronouns exclusive to gender. I should be able to get along with just "you" and "your."
I've also read both of Chaz' books, so I would be able to offer favorable comments on those, in between gushing about my admiration of Mr. Bono's music and sense of humor. Michele Last edited by michelej1; 11-07-2010 at 02:26 PM.. |

I used to want to meet stevie in person so bad. But now I have the attitude that itll happen if it happens. I've been "backstage" twice now and close but no cigar. I have have shaken her hand though numerous times. I've even made her laugh on stage once during "Sorcerer" at the San Diego Jingle Ball on 2001. I'll never forget that. So that will always be enough.

You guys be crazy for not wanting to meet Stevie! The night I met her was one of the most memorable and euphoric moments of my life. Given it was only for 5 minutes at an FM meet n' greet back in 03', when that woman looked into my eyes I swear she could see straight through to my soul! I actually didn't even need to say anything to her because I felt as though she already knew everything I was going to say. That being said I met her only 2 years after becoming a hard-core fan so things might be different today ( 7 years later).
My point is I guess I can understand to a certain extent about not wanting to shatter the illusion one may have of her but at the end of the day she's a human being (an extra-ordinary one) and maybe you won't even like the person you meet but she's still the one who created all that musical genius that has impacted so many of your lives. |

Kind of ironic that Stevie was on the cover of the People magazine which covered Sonny's death. That's the issue where she talks about her "lost" years. Man, I would have had to buy that one anyway because of her, you didn't have to go and ski into a tree !Quote:

My point is she is reaching out to people and not getting much responses, except for some weird posts from some chick twice. (Stalker Like)
