I knew I made a mistake. Then again, i thought she said "Like a weirdo I can bend" in Stand Back (it's really willow, but still)

That line, the bolded one, is actually the line that made me write my own songs basicly...so no, that's a good line ^^ I think, if you are a singer/writer, write your own songs!

Woah - this thread has run and run! Great stuff guys. I had mercifully forgotten about That Made Me Stronger (the worst track on Trouble In Shangri-La) and Silver Girl (ditto for Say You Will)...BAD lyrics!

LOVE this thread, especially markolas' post on Page 1! Hilarious.
Here are a couple that haven't been mentioned yet: "I should have turned away and ran" ("Smile at You") It should be "run"!! Hearing that is like having a stone in my shoe. "Some carry a stiletto in their garter/Along with everything else/That they carry" ("Alice") This makes me laugh. It's really funny. "So she stood there in the hallway frozen/In the dark/And her heart broke down/She cried/She fell to the floor/One tear..." etc. etc. ("Love Is") This language is purpler than purple. I also second the lines mentioned from "Jane," "Silver Girl," "Not Make Believe" and others. "Not Make Believe" is tragic because I love the music/arrangement for that song, but the words are a string of botched cliches ("They both rush by/Like a thief in the night" - should be thieVES! Another grammar fail!)

That whole song is a lyrical clusterf*ck.

But as Hermann Hesse once said, "The river is everywhere." "...at the source and at the mouth, at the waterfall, at the ferry, at the rapids, in the sea, in the mountains, everywhere at once" but it is constantly flowing, never ending.

I really like this lyric because it immortalizes one of her most iconic features. I also like the sentiment, it's like she's saying, I do what I want and I'm unique and I don't care what anyone thinks. Rock on gold dust woman...

I agree with most of these, but I actually like "the sky is not crying, the sky is blue." I think it captures how everything goes black for you when you're down. Because of what's inside, you see a storm, even on a clear day. Misery loves company, so you imagine the sky is crying with you. Cerebrally, you know better.
It's not crying. It's indifferent. Nature is impervious to your pain. Life goes on for the world around you, even if it's ending in your heart. Michele |

I am amazed that so many of you like "the sky is not crying" line. I cringe every time I hear it.
I agree with whoever mentioned the opening of Bella Donna. If the vocal and track weren't so good, I don't know if I could get over her use of the pony and phoney rhyme.
