For such a potentially gooey-sounding song, I'm now very excited about hearing Italian Summer. Dave will get mega brownie points if he posts a teaser!

Dave just tweeted - sitting here with *Stevie Nicks|http://tinyurl.com/39o7vme * great to be back recording again

No wonder it's not gonna be released til next year. They're not even done yet. Makes you wonder if they're still working on more new songs or just doing vocals, BGVs, overdubs, mixing, etc. on the 14 songs she's talked about in interviews. Curious.

^^
This points to what I've been guessing for a long time... the release date of the album will likely get pushed back. Ugh. It takes several months to mix and finish post production on an album, get the album artwork, photography, and liner notes sorted out, WB will want time to formulate a marketing plan, etc. We haven't even heard an album title yet. I could easily see this album getting pushed back to late next year now.

I'm going to be hopeful and say that she's recording with him for his album, and that they're basically done with hers

Overreact much? Being in the studio does not automatically mean that they are still working out songs and trying out different arrangements. Yes, it could be that, but it could also be about merely tweaking things here and there or doing some overdubs. Rest assured, WB already has the studio roughs and is already pondering the promotional strategy as well as artwork and packaging/configuration. Considering the excitment behind this project and Dave's notorious work ethic, I think there is no reason (yet) to believe that this will be delayed. If anything, I am glad that they are taking their time to get things done correctly.

You are probably right, I suppose we all get caught up in the hype, March still seems like a long way away.

Stevie also mentioned in some of her August interviews that they were nearly done in the studio, so I'm not surprised at all that they are back in the studio, because Stevie said they would be.

I'm just pleased that Dave hasn't abandoned the project and that he continues to be by Stevie's side, guiding the album. If it were up to her to finish things on her own, that's when the doubt and second-guessing would come to the fore and the dreaded remixing tendency would rear it's ugly head again.
It was my impression that they were by no means finished at the time Stevie did those few shows in August and so at the very least, post-production needs to be undertaken. I'm also hopeful that Stevie is furiously revising lyrics here and there as they most probably require major editing - not just because some were taken directly from her poetry but because she also mentioned in one of the recent interviews that the songs were extremely long and needed to be edited. Just working out what stays and goes will be a task in itself but Dave has great instincts when it comes to a sense of measure. Dave also rarely over-produces - don't misundertand me, I know he can sometimes be over-the-top and bombastic but if that were the case, it would have been the intention all along. What I appreciate about his approach is that he favours spontaneity over burying a song. I also think Stevie respects his judgment and will listen to him.
I think we're on track for a March 1 release because Dave is due to release his album at that time and they do plan to tour together. I think it would be unlikely that either Dave or Stevie would allow this to be interrupted.

PS If Dave is indeed involved in the mixing of Stevie's album, he is notoriously swift with this process. Back in the heyday of Eurythmics, Dave proudly proclaimed that he would mix a song from start to finish each day and so he is more than capable of wrapping this baby up in no time - all the while, keeping things fresh and unencumbered.
Stevie obviously adores Dave and seems to have had a genuine blast during the making of this album so I think she's more than happy to trust his judgment, which all makes for a rapid completion of proceedings.

Thank you! Fantastic post from an upbeat, positive mind!

Dave's tweet didn't say, "Scrapping the whole project and starting over!"

Five and 1/2 months until March 1st, and Dave being in the studio with Stevie must mean we'll be lucky for a Christmas 2011 release ~ LOL!

Great post, quoted for realism!

Both of your posts are very informed and wise, Phil. Let's all remember (or take note, if we weren't fans) that from 1981-1989, Dave produced a new Eurythmics album and released it every single year, except for 1988. Savage was released in Late 1987, and singles were released all throughout 1988. 1988 was planned to be a year off for Annie to have her first child, which was, sadly, stillborn. But my point is that Dave is superfast and efficient in the studio.

And, like you said, Dave is touring with Stevie, things are already in motion.

Note: "Stand Back" was written in January 1983, five months before The Wild Heart was released. What if Stevie's just written a new Classic like "Stand Back"?

I like your interpretation of things!
I suppose Dave has been quiet for a while so we're all just dying for any update!
