Default Which FEMALE singer of the 1970's do you prefer?

Which 70's darling is your favorite? Reminder - you can vote for more than one.

There are some ladies on this list (Cher, Dolly) that got their start before the 70's but they were more prominent during the decade which is why I put them on the list. Diana’s solo career began in the 70’s which is why I’m including her here as well. Pat, Stevie and Debbie Harry also got started in the 70’s of course but I’m saving them for an 80’s poll since that is when there solo careers were in full swing.

I gave my vote to Diana Ross cause I do have a fondness for Motown and the Supremes.

And would you mind if I eventually made a poll asking people about their favorite rocker chicks?

You are sweet to ask - of course. I am planning to do one of 80's Ladies but it will be a mix so ... go ahead, do a rocker chick one ;-)

I didn't see Diana Ross! phooey

Anyway, I voted for:

Dolly Parton - Arguably the greatest female American singer songwriter of all time.
Barbra Streisand - as a singer(!) not many people can best babs in the 60s and 70s. The Way We Were (album not soundtrack or movie)! On A Clear Day You Can See Forever!
Donna Summer - the Queen of Disco, Bad Girls and Once Upon A Time are two of my super all time favorite albums. "I Feel Love" is, of course, the most beautiful sound of all time.

Also for me:

Kate Bush - Probably my favorite female music artist of all time.
Corey Daye - Her voice fits my ear canal like a glove. Hers is the perfect voice for Dr. Buzzard's transformation of big band into the sublime.
Diana Ross - She's so iconic and so are her songs.

Oh it just had to be Karen Carpenter for me. I'm a huge Carpenters fan and I think she is one of the best female singers there has ever been, and certianly my favourite of all time. Her voice is just amazing!

Linda Ronstadt would be my next choice though - especially since I'm listening to the Hasten Down The Wind album right now!

Yeah but I'm a bit anal when it comes to picking favourites! If you'd said, who are a selection of your faves or something..haha! I'm sure I have a form of OCD when it comes to list making with moves, music etc... I have a problem! Although now I've noticed the shockingly small percentage of the vote that Linda has, I'm now thinking I should have! Come on people... she's GREAT!

By the way travis - have you heard the new Kylie single yet?! It's called All The Lovers and is her best one for a long time! Very similar to I Believe In You but that's no bad thing!

Hi Dod!

Yes, somebody was kind enough to send me an mp3 of "All The Lovers." It was in my mail box when I woke up and yes, I love it.

It does remind me of "I Believe In You", which is in my top 5 of Kylie songs.
