Question What song took Stevie 8 takes to get right?

So my little indie classic pop/rock station here in town is always dispensing the best trivia, plays the most forgotten old songs, album tracks, etc. As an example, they LOVE playing the demo version of Gold Dust Woman; they also play Think About Me, Sentimental Lady, and other Mac gems from time to time.

Anyway, my husband was getting out of the car they other day, and my fav DJ was saying "and here's a Fleetwood Mac tune that took Stevie Nicks 8 takes to get right." He didn't wait and listen to what song it was, because he assumed I'd know LOL. Anybody know this random bit of trivia?

Is it Gold Dust Woman? That's the only one I can think of when thinking about a Stevie Mac song that we have actually heard information about when it comes to the number of takes. You know, the story of how she wrapped herself up in more shawls after every take, lit more candles, all that good stuff.

I would say GDW, too. Maybe Dreams. I always thought she sounded stuffed up in certain parts.

Yep, per Mick's book it's GDW.

Oh My, we're now assuming that Mick's book is accurate even though his alcohol and drug fueled state of mind of that period. Actually, I just reread his book and I found it interesting that he had so many actual quotes; like he kept a diary and wrote down statements that people were saying. It is a shame that his book (and Carol Harris...Yikes) are the only direct sources of information from their history. Come on Stevie cough up all those journals you have.

are you sure they weren't talking about the Dance - it took 8 takes to get Dreams right because she kept forgetting the words

I haven't heard them play anything from The Dance... I'm betting it was Gold Dust Woman. The afternoon DJ really has a thing for that song... I've heard her play the Rumours version, the demo version, and the outtake.

It really is fantastic, I'm going to miss it SO much when I move from Charlotte. I've never heard a radio station like it anywhere before. They drag up the most obscure, GREAT artists... and if they play somebody like the Stones or Beatles, they'll dig out an amazing album track. The afternoon DJ Harriet Coffey has the best damn commentary and trivia. She's even taught me things about Fleetwood Mac.

Anyway, here's their site if anyone's interested. They stream online!
