Why should Stevie be any different? She wrote the songs, sings them, just like Sting & Co. "Rhiannon" is not "a Fleetwood Mac song". It's a Stevie Nicks song.
I could not agree with you more and I've thought about this often over the years. I never differentiate between her FM and solo songs. To me they are all Stevie songs. I mean, in my iPod the artist is always Stevie Nicks whether it's one of her FM songs or solo. This may sound insulting to some FM fans but it's still a Stevie song, just different players. I had often wondered over the years how she chooses whether a song will be FM or solo and I finally saw an interview a few years ago where she answered that question. I don't know the exact quote but it was something along the lines of "all of my songs are available to Fleetwood Mac" which I think is so sweet and endearing.

BTW, I don't "listen" to Crystal Visions; I just uploaded the tracks and make my own Stevie iMixes and Cds, so I was glad to get the new live versions to use however I wanted. Yes, TimeSpace flows better somehow.

IMO IMO IMO
I think someday we will get a boxed set encompassing all of Stevie's work. When? Who knows. But I am sure one day there will be a 3 or 4 disc boxed set with all her singles from FM and solo on 2 discs and then a disc or 2 of unreleased demos/live versions/duets and all that jazz. It will be like Enchanted II, but they will call it some creative lyric of hers subtitled by "The Essential STEVIE NICKS"! Someone is bound to try to make a buck off of it, and I would probably buy it. Another thing I would like would be "The Complete Stevie Nicks" that encompassed all her work, solo and fleetwood mac, and chronologically ordered the songs by when they were written. Demos and everything. Everything she has ever done. Of course, it would have to be after she dies (NEVER!) and would be an extremely elaborate and expensive package, but I'd sure as **** buy it.

The single version was on the Gap's in-store playlist in June 2002 where I work, and I just cringed to hear Stevie's song edited and forced to hear it that way twice a shift! Same the next month with "Stand Back"'s chop job!

Chris Lord-Alge did a superb job remixing many of the Classics, and I'd rather hear that than songs hacked up "for radio", as if listeners could not stand more than 3:30 a song... CLA's GLORIOUS remixing of "Rooms on Fire", with all the magic and sparkle VS. the single edit, which bizarrely slices out the beautiful mandolin after the first chorus.

Perhaps a collection with the "Radio Edits" would be nice, but not an official Greatest Hits package like TimeSpace. That's why I was glad the November 2006 "Best Of" featuring only singles edits was scrapped in favour of Crystal Visions, with the full versions, plus Stevie's FM hits sequenced in. IMO IMO IMO

Agree that "Listen To The Rain" should have been the 1st single as it was meant to be (Atlantic release # and all proves this).
I don't hear a mandolin, but I do hear an acoustic guitar that's definitely more pronounced and seems to actually play somewhat of an actual solo. It starts when she's singing "long nets of white cloud my memory". It continues to play as she's singing "there is magic... all around you... everytime you walk... in the ro0m..." and it even keeps going beyond that. Is that what you're talking about or is it something else? I've listened to every version I could find, but I'm not hearing a mandolin. I just want to know if I'm missing (missing, missing) a version!
