Default Tusk

What are your guys general thoughts on Tusk? I didn't see a Tusk thread anywhere, so I thought I'd start this one. I personally really like it and all of the wicked grooves found through the tunes, especially miss mcvie's. My favorite tune on the whole thing is the title track. I hope I can write a song half as groovy as that one in my lifetime. Shame Bucko really dropped the ball over the rest of the album. As far as Nicks goes, I love Sara. Wow, what a tune. I guess what are your general impressions on Tusk?

To promote discussion, you've been assigned the task of making Tusk 12 songs long instead of 20. Pick the 12 you would include.

I haven't heard it in awhile, but I always liked the mellow atmosphere of most of it. I also like songs that last about 2 minutes.

It has a bothersome wet signal in the sound field that I don't really like. I prefer the dry, compressed signal throughout Rumours.

I would hardly say Lindsey "dropped the ball" as far as the rest of his contributions. Did he include the rest of the band as much as he could have? Definitely not, but most of his tracks are still pretty great regardless.

Twelve Tusk, in the original order, just omitting:
1. The Ledge
2. Think About Me
3. Save Me a Place
4. What Makes You Think You're the One
5. Sisters of the Moon
6. Angel
7. That's Enough For Me
8. Never Make Me Cry
9. Beautiful Child
10. Walk a Thin Line
11. Tusk
12. Never Forget

I so love the Tusk album. I avoided it at first...couldn't quite get into it. But once I sat and gave it a complete listen...have loved it ever since. Cutting it down to 12 was tough It was hard letting go of Save Me a Place, but...oh, this was hard!!!

Over and Over
The Ledge
Sara
What Makes You Think You're the One
That's All for everyone
Not That Funny
Sisters of the Moon
Angel
Brown Eyes
I Know I'm Not Wrong
Beautiful Child
Tusk

That's All For Everyone
Sisters Of The Moon
That's Enough For Me
Brown Eyes
I Know I'm Not Wrong
Beautiful Child
Walk A Thin Line

I made a 12 song cd long ago it is,

1. Think About me
2. Sara
3. What Makes You Think your the One
4. Storms
5. Over And Over
6. Save Me a Place.
7. Walk a Thin Line
8. That's All for Everyone
9. Sisters of the Moon
10. Beautiful Child
11. Not That Funny
12. Tusk

I'm low on Chris songs as i feel it's her weakest album.

12, eh? That'll be difficult. But here goes:

1. Tusk
2. Sara
3. Think About Me
4. Storms
5. Not That Funny
6. Angel
7. Brown Eyes
8. Honey Hi
9. The Ledge
10. I Know I'm Not Wrong
11. Sisters of the Moon
12. Never Forget

Four each. But you know, a big part of Tusk's artistic success is the rather sprawling, generous amounts of music and moods. Save Me a Place is as crucial as That's Enough for Me. Over and Over (my least favorite Christine song on the record) is as impressively understated as What Makes You Think is bombastic. Never Make Me Cry is as stripped bare as That's All For Everyone is washed in layers and layers of choral chanting. In short, I can't imagine any of the songs cut. In fact, the album's highs gain further dimension and richness when surrounded by the "weaker" songs. Judging from everyone's lists, it's clear none of us can really agree what the strong or weak songs are.

Very true my friend. That's what makes us all true fans. We are all unique in the one thing we all have in common: we all love Fleetwood Mac. And we all have different tastes.

Ah Tusk. I get all verklempt just thinking about it. When I first bought the album, I was doing research in a prison just outside of the city. Tusk filled in practically every drive there and back, and it's still my go-to album for longer car trips. Explaining why when I went to grab it out of the CD rack just now, I could only get my hands on the cardboard sleeve....

The Ledge
Save Me A Place
Sara
Storms
Sisters of the Moon
Brown Eyes
I Know I'm Not Wrong
Honey Hi
Beautiful Child
Walk A Thin Line
Tusk
Never Forget

I originally ended up with 13, so Angel had to go, and Save Me A Place was a late substitution for That's Enough For Me. While I'm at it, the next closest Chris song would have been Never Make Me Cry . But I'm content with my 12!

Tusk
Sisters Of The Moon
Think About Me
What Makes You Think You're The One
I Know I'm Not Wrong
Sara
The Ledge
Over & Over
Not That Funny
Never Forget
Storms
Brown Eyes

I found this surprisingly easy, inasmuch as these are the songs I'd primarily play for people new to Fleetwood Mac. Otherwise, all twenty would make the list!
