Default "Mirror Ball"?

I was just going through a Stevie Box of mine I hadn't looked in since 2005. Along with finding every single fanzine ever published about Stevie up to 1998, as well as some AMAZING 8 x 10 photos of Stevie performing live in Germany in 1989 (given to me by the girl who took the pics), I found an email I had printed up from a friend, alerting me to a new bootleg Stevie CD.

The email is dated 01/26/1999, and my friend describes "Mirror Ball" as "A beautiful Stevie piano ballad not heard by many, a great song, very moving."

Okay, my friend has not responded today when I FaceBooked him about it, so I was wondering if anyone here knew what this song is. I know I definitely had the song in 1999, but it's not in my Stevie collection now.

Was it known by another title?

The contents on the Mirror Ball CD my friend lists as:

Mirror Ball
Nothing Ever Changes - demo
Dial The Number - very different early version (I can't find this either)
One More Tomorrow - The Wild Heart outtake
Violet and Blue - outtake
If Anyone Falls In Love - outtake
Julia - "rare outtake"
Joan of Arc - Tango in The Night outtake

and several more, mostly rarer outtake versions from Bella Donna.

Does anyone have "Mirror Ball" on mp3 or know if it's just an alternate title for another song?

I believe Mirror Ball, is aka Spinning Wheels or Christian depending on how the bootleg is labeled. I have a bootleg CD compilation named Mirror Ball by the bootlegger, that start offs with Spinning Wheels/Christian preceeding that exact song sequence you listed.
It is a beautiful piano ballad...in which the chorus she sings..."Oh Christian, what about your sad wild dreams. What kind of feelings, do you feel for me"....Great stuff. She should have completed this song, along with so many others...I believe it is a Bella Donna era demo.

Thank you, Christopher!

I suspected "Mirror Ball" was another song. However, my old friend already had "Christian" and gave it to me in 1994. Odd that he would blank out like that. He must've had a Stevie Moment!

Oh well, mystery solved! Thanks again!

Can I post photos here?

They are wonderful 1989 shots from the German OSOTM Tour.

YES YES YES! I didn't think she played in Germany on OSOTM...Paris, Ireland, Birmingham, London, Rotterdam? Maybe I'm just bad at geography.

I know that when she was doing press, she did a live performance of ROF in a black outfit with just Sharon and Lori on the stage. PriestofNothing posted the video a long time ago on VEOH, but it is now taken down. Does anyone know what i'm talking about?

Correction: The show we all know as Rotterdam, Holland actually is mislabelled and was in Sweden.

That live black "Rooms on Fire" has Stevie looking very differently than her lip-synched red "Rooms on Fire" on Top of The Pops.

Mine's on VHS, too...

I just looked at a collection I have of Stevie demos that I got back in the '90's called "Mirror Ball" and the song is listed on the disc as "Mirror Ball (Spinning Wheels)". It looks like it might be the same collection of songs you listed.

Ok, so does anybody know where the name "Mirror Ball" came from? Is this the "official" name? Is this the title listed on that publishing website (I lost the link to that site a long time ago!)

I had that song on cassette tapes prior to Maureen's putting out that "Mirror Ball" cd that everyone's talking about on this thread. But before that cd, I had only seen the name "Spinning Wheels" or "Christian" for that song.

(Same thing with "No Light" vs "Planets Of The Universe" and "The Tower" vs "Goodbye Baby"... I had never seen "No Light" or "The Tower" ever until Maureen started putting out her cds. Even the labels on the actual reel-to-reel tapes list "Planets Of The Universe" and "Goodbye Baby".)

Maureen, or whoever started circulating this CD in the 90's named this collection "Mirror Ball" , to my knowledge Stevie has never written a song by that title.

That's what I suspected. Thanks!
