Default Sara's wants to play bass...

So Sara expressed interest in being either in band or orchestra at the middle school. She was given the opportunity to try out all different kinds of instruments. At the end of this, they got to make their choices. She told me she tried the oboe, but the mouthpiece was just weird, and it tickled her lips. She said she tried the violin, but didn't like "crooking" her neck to play it. She said she tried the bass, and it was big and loud and she loved it! I just thought it was kinda funny. I'm excited.

That's awesome! Like an upright bass or a guitar?

My son has a guitar that I can't teach him to play, but now that we've moved, I have an uncle that can teach him, so I am excited to see how he does. His father played bass in a metal band, and the guitars are put away for Asher if he wants them when he's older.

Like, an upright bass. A chello?? haha!

She's still excited, because they're so big, she'll have 2 of them. One to keep at school and one to keep at home. I'll let you all know how she does. It won't start until September.

Perhaps she will be the next Zoe Keating:

Sadly, I could not find a decent clip of my other favorite composition of hers, "Exurgency," but you can get it here for free: http://www.zoekeating.com/projects.html

She's all kinds of amazing, both her solo work and the stuff she did with Rasputina. Maybe your daughter would like to listen.
