Written by the director, Dean Karr...
3.29.2001 "I will focus primarily on the classic artistry of Stevie Nicks and her performance within the context of a moody piece of film reminiscent of the 1998 production of "Great Expectations". The video for "Everyday" will become stunningly gorgeous through rich cinematic and romantic photography. Stevie's searing solo performance unfold as we come upon a strangely unique house and garden. As we follow Stevie deep into the scene, strange happenings occur. Vines being growing, twirling up columns and trees as she passes. Suddenly nature reveals a distant past in the form of objects that, untouched for so many years, have become part of their environment. Here Stevie swirls and turns to the music. A table is covered with ivy intertwined with crystal glasses, fine china, and candleholders. Some unfinished business took place here. Perhaps happiness turned its back. This place is mostly still, yet holds so many memories of life, hope, and fulfillment. As we follow Stevie through the overgrown set we discover several human figures sleeping in the trees. Their heads rest on fluffy pillows and they give the apeparance of having been asleep for a long time. As Stevie walks by, they will awaken and join in the action. An additonal visual element will be obtained through the magic of motion control. In this way we will be able to create astounding illusions, representing key moments of some unforgettable, devastating past. As Stevie sings the chorus, we are visite d by surrealism at its best! Faceless couples magically vaporize into the frame. They could represent relationships past. As they dance a tight tango, they spin to the haunting melody, only to vanish once again as the chorus ends. With each pass we will re-dress teh set with different props. When cut together in rapid sequence, the effect will be something extraordinary for the eye. An additional setup of Stevie will be filmed featuring a tight head and shoulders shot, lit once again wtih soft, complementing light. This will become a canvas upon which beautiful textures will be layered and double exposed through the outside of the negative. Here we will also utilize a post effect that makes it appear that her eyes never blink as they smolder with passion and connect with the viewer. Separately shot props, symbolic of an isolated state will dissolve in and out, adding to the haunting feeling of the piece. With beautiful styling and lighting, we'll discover Stevie looking stunning and fresh. Collaborating closely with Stevie and one of my favorite stylists, we will create a wardrobe that, while striking, remains flattering at all times. The cinematography will be truly beautiful, the art direction imaginative and evocative. The opportunity to work with Stevie Nicks motivates me to draw upon the depth of my cinematic/photographic instincts, and create a piece that is memorable, dramatic, and hauntingly beautiful. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by LiamMcConville; 01-29-2010 at 08:42 PM.. |

thanks for posting these "Everyday" tidbits, the video was a beautiful artistic canvas and the whole modern take "Great Expectations" theme was a great concept...not one of my favorite Stevie songs but definetely my favorite video totally displacing "If Anyone Falls" from the top of my video list...
