As long as we're still talking about this, how was your set-up out of the case, and what strings are on this guitar? Do they use the Tomastik Enfield?

If you changed strings did you re-intonate?

Yeah I think they were Thomastik 10's or 11s each time I got my Turner. I use Ernie Ball 10s and have for years... but recently I've also been using Elixir's.

I've been using the EB .010"s for years too. I hope mine was set up with .010's.

I believe they set them up for 10s as that's typically standard. I have yet to have to readjust the bridge on any of mine thus far. I actually prefer D'Addario over the EBs too. Try the XL Nickel Wound by them.

I just can't see spending THAT MUCH money on a guitar.
That said, I do have:
4 Strats
3 Teles
2 Takamine acoustics
1 Gibson ES-125
1 Gretsch solid body electric
4 basses(PV 4 string, PV 5, Fender Jazz fretless, Kramer 4)
2 violins(Fender and a student one)
2 mandolins (Flatiron and Epiphone)
2 lap steels(National and I forget the other)
1 Emmons single neck pedal steel
1 cheap banjo

So I don't have a problem dropping $800 on a guitar, but I just CAN'T SEE dropping 4K on one, with my house payment, and all the other bills. I just can't justify it.

HA! I guess it's because I avoid home ownership?

You're way up on me! I've got:

2 Model 1's
Epiphone Les Paul (studio)
Big baby Taylor Acoustic
Yamaha Nylon string
Cordoba nylon string
Peavey Tracer (80s guitar)
Godin LG

No plan on buying any instruments soon... but I would like to replace my Mesa Rectoverb.

I left amps out. I usually play thru a Fender Cybertwin(DON'T be a hater!!!!)
I have a 71 Marshall head, with 71 4x12 tweed cloth cab
A 90's JCM 900 head, with a PV 4x12(with Celestions)
A Fender Bandmaster head
a Musicman RD80? RD112?(I'm not at home right now) single 12 amp
Fender Cyber Deluxe amp(**** shifted in my truck, and sheared about 5 knobs off of it, and it's just been sitting for about two years now. I've been too lazy to get it fixed.
And old PV Bandit, that I've been trying to get $100 out of,on Craigslist, for about two years!
AND, I just bought a Fender 1965 reissue Twin, in Nashville, week before last(I do sound, and regularly rent out my two Marshalls, and always miss being able to rent a Twin out, so I now have one(MINT).

On the guitar list, the only thing I forgot(so far) - a 1933/34 National resonator. I paid $600 for it, about 10 years ago. They usually go for about 4K. HEY, I'll trade you, for your Turner!

I also play keys, and have a bunch of dated crap! I bought a Kimball baby grand, about a month ago. It was on Craigslist, and practically being given away($600, and it's MINT.....it was $5200 new, in 1982, and appreciated to about 8K, in 1995....I have no idea what it's worth now.....piano tuner is coming tomorrow at 2.....I'll ask him).

And Mesa's are SO FKN HEAVY. I had a friend, trying to sell me his....it sounded awesome, but when I carried it home, I'm like "no freakin' way am I carrying this TANK around every weekend!"

HAHA... so basically you could sell a few amps and get a Turner. I don't like switching amps... I find a workhorse and stick with it. No problems out of this Rectoverb I have now (had it for 3 yrs). Before that was playing thru a Fender Twin. I had a Peavey... something... back in the day. Solid state.

Try lugging around an AC50 2x12. I'm getting to old for this.

Mine was $5K because I had to have the Piezo, the binding, etc. I figured if I was dropping this much on a guitar I was getting 'the works'.

The rest of the family includes an Ephiphone LP Custom, Epi ES-175, Seagull S6+, Ibanez 12 string, and a custom Dean Vendetta.

The LP pickups have been swapped with SD '59's in both positions, and the Epi pickups went into the Dean. The pots and switch have also been replaced in the LP.

I'm thinking of selling everything except the LP and buying one of Rick's RS-6
Renaissance guitars.

I've customized two of my Strats, which has practically stopped me from playing any other guitars, live. EMG active pickups, and Fishman piezo acoustic bridges. The variety of sounds(especially the acoustic sound), has limited me to playing only two guitars, now.

This is the Dean Vendetta I painted several months ago. It actually plays pretty well for a cheap guitar. And it sounds better (belive it or not) with the Epi pickups that sounded like crap in the LP.

That's the Bavarian flag pattern I used. Most of the parts came from GF.

Hi there,
I think this video was posted elsewhere on the Ledge once before, but you may have missed it.
Here is Stan Lamendola, Lindsey's current guitar tech, and he starts talking about cables at about 2:22.
I really agree that good cables are worth the $.

Ha ha - itt did! And you notice he never actually verified what cable they use. Rick doesn't know, and thinks they might have them custom made.
