So does everyone think are Stevie's best vocals of her career? Here are my picks, I couldn't just chose one:
I like Tunnel O' Love so much because Stevie's vocal is so very steamy, witchy, and hotly sexual. It's like Walter caught her in the heat of the moment writhing around . Besides that, I think it's totally innovative. I've never heard a backing vocal like that one before or since by anybody. Her vocal took what could have been a totally forgettable song and made it into something epic.I think this is Stevie's most beautiful vocal. The ending especially is gorgeous. Very torch-singer esque for Ms Nicks! It's actually hard for me to hear Landslide live to this day, because this one isn't just in a different league, it's in a different universe! |

Stevie's background vocals MAKE "Tunnel of Love". And I've never heard that "Landslide" before-- and now I'm wondering how I lived without it. That was breathtaking.

I am in love with her vocals on the Candlebright (Nomad) demo...especially when her voice converges with Lindsey's...absolutely gorgeous!
![]() I don't know if you consider that in the time frame of her career though |

I'll have to have a think about others because I think there are a few but the one that comes to mind most recently is her AMAZING vocal on At Last.

I think one of the best vocals of her career was Rhiannon in The Dance, where she just belts out "Once in a million years a lady like her riiiiissssses, Whoooaahh no Rhiannon you cry butthenshesgoneee.." And then you can both see Chris and Lindsey smile, and then after you can see Stevie try to hide her little smirk
![]() I think that's quite a stand out moment ![]()

There are many great vocals she has done but here's a few:
Stand Back Solid Gold version: Insider with Tom Petty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tJwmO3y9ok Beauty and the beast, live with the Melbourne symphony orcestra: And of course this Wild Heart version:

But I do love her vocals on Wild Heart (the song). Escpecially at the end... WIIIIILLLLD HEEEEAAART! However, this sums up Stevie's vocals in one performance-

You really need to hear a good quality crisp mp3 to fully appreciate her vocal on this one, it's stunning! I don't have an mp3 of it anymore unfortunately

Her vocal on "Sleeping Angel" is breathtaking.
And I agree with "Insider" and "Whenever I Call You Friend." She really is a great harmony singer. In recent years, I'd pick "It's Only Love." |

This thread makes me really, really happy.
![]() I had never heard of "Tunnel o' Love" until now either! ![]() I agree, obvi, with everything everyone else has said. I also really like her vocals on "Midnight Wind" -- the "Miranda" parts essentially:

Damn... Stevie really is one of the best harmonizers of all time. She just knows how to wrap her voice around the person she's harmonizing with in the most amazing ways. She really seems to get more inspiration and energy in her vocals when she's harmonizing with someone else, rather than when it's just her singing.I'm guessing this is where Lindsey got the inspiration to name the Fleetwood Mac song Miranda, and why he mentions "the midnight wind" in his solo song Loving Cup? We already know his solo song Johnny Stew is written about John Stewart. I need to research the whole story of John with Lindsey and Stevie more. Obviously I've heard Gold, and knew Lindsey really looked up to John and the Kingston Trio, and that he sang at John's funeral last year. Other than that, I don't know a whole lot. |
