Default I really love concerts

I went to see a band that I am a casual fan of last night, O.A.R., and just had the best time! I really do like the music that I am familiar with but hadn't really brushed up on their newer stuff, so I only knew about half the songs that they played. It's amazing how when the music is good and the band is in it and audience is with them, it doesn't matter if you know the song or not, it just works! Some O.A.R. songs are LONG too, they are a jam band and often have lengthy guitar/drum/saxophone solos and the lead singer tends to free verse occasionally too, but it never felt TOO long. I did not stop moving the whole time. And they did this AWESOME cover of "With a Little Help From My Friends", Joe Cocker-style, to celebrate Woodstock and brought out Matt Nathanson and Robert Randolph to help out. Really, really incredible.

It's not just O.A.R. that I've experienced this with lately. I didn't go to that many concerts when I was in high school/college but for the past few years, I've stayed on top of things and have just really loved going to see live music. I admit, I usually enjoy bands that I am at least familiar with most and I flat out love seeing bands whose music I really know well, but there is really nothing like being in a room watching a group of musicians create right in front of you, surrounded by the energy of the people who love them.

I think I'm officially addicted!

While I can't say the same for OAR, , Robert Randolph is amazing. He opened for Eric Clapton when I saw them in '08. Fantastico!

He played on their cover of "Fool in the Rain" last night too, which was absolutely kick ass! He was playing slide and luckily the sound mix was great so it was really clear and sounded awesome. I was excited to see him show up!
