lol i got about 1057 songs on my ipod and not even close to filling the darn thing up. i had so much more music on there before i plugged my ipod into my old computer and it deleted everything somehow. i am just lazy about importing songs from my cd's. it takes forever.

A little over 1200...and that's only:
Allman Bros Band (and solo albums & off-shoot bands) Derek Trucks Band Eric Clapton (plus Blind Faith & Derek and the Dominos...haven't gotten around to Cream, yet...nor have I completed loading all of the albums under his own name) ZZ Top (first 7 albums) Steve Winwood/Traffic (not complete yet) Bob Welch (the two '80s albums) Peter Green (his entire output post-Fleetwood Mac) And, that only comprises barely 10% of the iPod's capacity...I may not need a second iPod for quite some time! I never thought I'd ever OWN an iPod, if it weren't for actually WINNING one in a raffle about 6 months ago.

A 30gig ipod should be able to hold 5,000-7,500 songs. Do you have video taking up a lot of space? I have 5,000 songs on my ipod and a little less than 10 gigs worth of space left. |

The stats are capacity of 27.84GB and 3.15GB free. I have no video and tv, movie and podcast are all empty. Audio is at 24.59GB, Photos at 19MB and Other is at 19.6MB (I don't know what other is). I do have a lot of files that look huge--I just checked the sizes and there is great variability but I've got a lot of live songs that are well over 100mb each. Not sure if that's what's doing it or not. |

Have you actually listened to them all? Is it even possible to really know the songs when you have that many? I'm not trying to be argumentative, just curious. I'm finding at 5,000 things are getting out of hand. A track will come up on my ipod and I won't even know what it is. I have over 500 cds and haven't even loaded every single track off of them to itunes. Before the ipod I used to buy an album and get to know it. I miss those days. I still buy cds, but I usually dump the songs into itunes, and never get around to listening to it as a whole. It sorta feels like a waste.
