I'm really curious about the origins of the version of Beauty and the Beast that's circulating marked "(Alternate Take)" (running time 5:32). It has a synth playing the string arrangement with very subdued vocal by Stevie and nearly fully developed background vocal parts. I'm trying to pinpoint when exactly this was recorded. The recording has a similar sound quality to some of the pre-Bella Donna Moncrieff demos (i.e., it doesn't quite sound like an album outtake) but the fact that the string/synth and bg vocal arrangements are so close to the final version, make me think it must have been recorded much closer to the recording of the version that appeared on The Wild Heart. Before? After? Anyone know anything about this gem?

Hmmm, I'm not sure I know exactly what you're talking about.
The only "Beauty and the Beast" I have (besides the album version, live versions, etc) is the one that's usually called "Beauty and the Beast - Blues Master". That runs 4:49. ![]() That probably doesn't help you whatsoever, but I was just throwing that out there!
