She did not butt in - she was asked.

Anyway - this is way too much conversation about this The clip speaks for itself.
I give up, strand.

How are you today? Been reading any good books lately? Seen any good films?

I literally finished Destiny Rules 30 seconds ago and kept this thread in mind. Karen's entire statement was about Stevie's lawyers' involvement up until that point. So then Lindsey made a phone call and claimed that Karen and Stevie were "pointing fingers" at him... which lead to the cutest little uproar from Stevie ("oh no we are not, Lindsey!"). He then started rambling about Karen and Stevie defended her. That's all that happened.

On another note... I feel super lame for crying at the end of Destiny Rules. I've watched it a thousand times but for some reason, I'm feeling extra sentimental tonight. But seriously-- that documentary encompasses everything I love about the Mac

It was in the first scene where Stevie is preparing to leave after bringing in the spirit catcher and playing the new songs for LB. When she goes to hug Lindsey, everyone sort of scatters and Karen goes over to Ray.

Having Karen succumb to diphtheria would have made Destiny Rules all that more enjoyable.

I cried at the end of Destiny Rules too, to see them walk out there hand in hand was quite moving, especially preceded by the dressing room nervous, the banter between John and Mick (John telling Mick that he better smile back at him). Very powerful stuff, decades in the making.

It's not lame of you, I totally understand. I'm pretty certain it was LB's idea to make the doc, and for that I think he deserves a lot of credit because the band was seen warts and all and you come out with a pretty clear picture of some of their very different personalities. I found the entire thing interesting.

Their was a point where Karen had the most important job of all.....taking care of Barry. Can you imagine his demands?

I heard a couple people say a long time ago that Karen was kinda rude or snippy or something. Just curious....at 12:45 am...cus there's NOTHING else I could be doing, like sleeping or anything like that.
yes I have seen Karen at the shows also have met her up close when I met Stevie Nicks at the union square barnes and noble in NYC cd/dvd signing as well she is usually with stevie 24/7 i am guessing.

Alternatively, it is Karen's job to ensure that Stevie Nicks gets to her hairdresser on time, & packs her favorite jammies for the tour.
Karen is not your usual celebrity personal assistant. Stevie doesn't like to deal with contracts, paperwork, legal stuff, anything of that nature etc. Karen handles everything around Stevie's life. Not just groceries, hair appointments, etc. Stevie doesn't drive or do most things that "normal" people do. Like I said before, at one point (maybe that has changed now, but I doubt it) she did live with Stevie. She is almost like Stevie's manager/personal assistant, even though we all know HK is Stevie's management firm.

It's obvious that Stevie's trusts Karen dearly, not just with her personal life with her career too. Here's a quote from Stevie from her journal entries in 2005 about Walter Reed:

"And I will do something. Me and my guitar player, friend, Waddy~ and my dear little assistant, Karen. We will think of something. We’ll start a foundation, we will tell the world what we saw~ we’ll keep tabs on our boys at Walter Reed~ and we will love them every day in our hearts~ and we will WISH THEM WELL. "

I was thinking of this strategy they tried to pull in a passage from Tom Jones:

Quote:
Two to one are odds at every other thing as well as at foot-ball. But the advantage which this united force hath in persuasion or entreaty must have been visible to a curious observer; for he must have often seen, that when a father, a master, a wife, or any other person in authority, have stoutly adhered to a denial against all the reasons which a single man could produce, they have afterwards yielded to the repetition of the same sentiments by a second or third person, who hath undertaken the cause, without attempting to advance anything new in its behalf. And hence, perhaps, proceeds the phrase of seconding an argument or a motion, and the great consequence this is of in all assemblies of public debate.

Folks, Karen should not have been in that room participating in any way in a discussion that centered on track mixing. When people not in the band intrude (without being asked) into specifically band-related matters -- like music, mixing, touring, rehearsing, mastering -- trouble ensues virtually always. Anyone who was ever in a band knows this. The proof is in the pudding. Lindsey in this video is obviously pissed off. Karen should have waited out in the lobby.

Stevie can trust Karen all she wants. Karen's participation in band-related discussions can still be problematic for the other members of Mac, who have no such connection to Karen.

David - have you even seen the ****ing documentary? Karen doesn't say ANYTHING about mixing the tracks, she just backs Stevie up in a comment she makes based on the legal/contractual side of things. It has nothing to do with the actual tracks or the MUSIC. If anything, Stevie & Lindsey shouldn't have been involved, the discussion should have been between Karen and Ray Lindsey.

This is the first time I have ever read you speak from ignorance. Just shut up, and buy the documentary so you have some concept of what you're talking about!

I would watch it -- but I don't like the band after they got old!!

(Nothing against old farts personally -- after all, I'm 63 & no spring chicken -- but I don't think age mixes well with rock & roll.)
