Default What do you think of the new What`s the world coming to and SYHAway?

Here's the thread for discussing the songs. SYHA in my opinion (although I liked it) was still lacking of something. The singing on the GOS version seemed to be somehow lame perhaps because of the voice machine used or it was too quiet or sth. This one is better regarding this aspect but I don't know if it's the right tempo or should be a little more upbeat.

What`s the world... now I refuse to listen to that, as I want to keep a little rest of surprise to when I get the album. It`s hard though...
Your opinions?

Heart

Steal Your Heart Away is one of my favorite songs of all time. It has a lot of sentimental value to me, so I was pleased to hear it barely changed from the GOS/ Dance single B-side versions. I loved it as it was, and I am 99.9% sure Christine's voice is (and remains) on it. The only thing added to the new version is some extra Stevie harmony... While I don't think it was needed, it is not an unwelcome addition. JMHO. I love it.

Stefan, since you started this thread and have the will power not to listen to What's The World Coming To...I will restrain myself from spoiling that one. I will say, that it is very cool in a "Monday Morning" kind of way so I think it is a good song to start the album with .

Wow...does Lindsey know how to right a beautifully melodic hook or what? Listen to it now, or not you guys are gonna lovvvvvvvvvve it. It should have been the first single. The other songs are great, but this is classic Fleetwood Mac. NOW I'M PSYCHED!!!!! P.S. Thrown Down is much better. They raised the key, and Stevie is singer higher and MUCH clearer although I did like the guitars on the versus of the other version , but this is great too! As for "SYHAway", they did'nt change much, but, Christine seems to be doing most of the backing "oohs" and they are more prominent in the mix. You gotta love that! I always loved Christine backing vocals! Ofcourse Stevies harmony is great.

Default Does anyone else hear...

...a strong similarity between "What's the World Coming To" and Jackson Browne's "Doctor My Eyes?" As soon as I downloaded and listened to WTWCT I was like, what the hell is this reminding me of? Alright, am I nuts or does anyone else hear it?

I love that this song has just been slightly remixed and Stevie has been added. It is so perfect. But ya know, Chris and Lindsey sound so very similar singing back-up, that I'm not even sure if it's her - or him just doing a high part. anyone else?

very slightly in the verses but the song has a whole different feel to it...but I do see what your saying...but the similarity is not enough to bother me like "peacekeeper" does. Ilike Peacekeeper but I keep thinking of another song which I won't mention, although alot of other people have.

WTWCT is a cracker album opener. i've been singing it allday long now. Some of the melodic lines remind me of Fireflies, a complete other song but just some similar change of key in the verse is setting me on that. And Oh what a gorgeous sound in the guitarsolo!!

bouncing around the house!!

WTWCT is a fantastic song...it sounds slightly Tusk/L&O-ish to me, but totally fresh. I love the melody, and it's a signature, classic LB piece. Great stuff!

That high note that he and Stevie reach in the chorus is quite powerful and incredible. The melody is so well crafted and the lyrics are incredibly powerful. I like the way in which Fleetwood Mac (via Lindsey) is getting involved with these subjects. Needless to say, I think it's a terrific song, and I like it very much.

"Steal Your Heart Away"... I can still hear Christine and that's a very good thing. This version is pretty much the same (?) as the Gift Of Screws demo, but with Stevie vocals added, which is pretty much what was expected, I suppose. I've always like the song, and now that the vocal mix is complete, I like it even more.

Way to go, mr. Buckingham!

SYHA is a nice song and Stevie's vocals are really a nice bonus. I'm surprised (compared to the relatively more "radical" changes on FM's version of "Peacekeeper") that the backing track remained virtually intact. But then again, maybe it's due to being so accustomed to listening to the GOS version that I would've liked to hear some different production aspects on the new version. But a good song remains a good song, and of course Christine's on it which is another great thing.

WTWCT is classic Mac (especially the chorus) without sounding old-fashioned or nostalgic, exactly what I wanted to have on at least a couple of tracks on the new album. To me it proves that you can move on and sound contemporary without "hiding" your history or trying to sound embarassingly hip. This band really doesn't have to rely on the old hits.

Default Great stuff!

I've always adored SYHA. Back when it was only on Best Buy, I burned it onto my "Best of Lindsey Buckingham" CD-R I made for the car. lol Now it's going to be officially released and I'm SO glad!

I always listen to new songs with trepidation...before I Start it I go "I hope I like it!" lol Well, with WTWCT, I didn't have to worry. It's so melodic and that last, quick, "What's the World Coming To" after the chorus is a great, unexpected change that is so small, yet adds so much! Can't wait to hear the whole thing!
